This point of this video is to find out how far SSDs have come since the first consumer grade SSDs were being released to the market. It really wasn't that long ago, but SSD performance and reliability has improved by leaps and bounds in such a short time. It really makes you excited for what's coming down the road.

@uut0 It's not all about sequential reads and writes. A single modern SSD will smoke those two drives in RAID0 in almost any real world scenario.

I debated Between the A-Data S559, Mushkin Callisto, G.SKILL Phoenix & the Corsair Force (All 60gb), after talking to people on their respective forums I decided on the Corsair Force. While usually around 139.99 on Newegg, they had it on sale for 104.99 and free shipping. For the performance it just could not be beat, will be installing Windows 7 Pro on it on Monday will be running in AHCI with a Western Digital Caviar Black 750GB drive as the storage drive, expecting great results.

@Spartan536 Same here, The Corsair Force 60GB is a great deal on deal on newegg. The Corsair Force is similar to the G.Skill Phoenix and the OCZ Vertex 2, though the Vertex 2 is having reliability issues.

@the14u36 If your SSD supports SATA3.0 (6GB), yes you will benefit. Probably not much though.
If your SSD is SATA2 and you plug it into a SATA3 port, it will still run at SATA2.0 because the SSD only supports SATA2.

also...4k random reads and writes SHOULD BE YOUR FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT BENCHMARKING AND COMPARISON aspect of any ssd's versus one another. 4k transfers deal with PRETTY MUCH everything about the Operating system..ESPECIALLY boot up and the beginning parts of launch any program.Too many people unfortunately see the 285/275 max read/write sequential speeds which ANY sandforce sata II ssd today can about meet. Mushkin 120gb, G skill phoenix pro, Adata s599, OCZ Vertex 2. all good choices

@pointblack1000 yes. i own that exact O.S. currently on my 300 gb HFLS velciraptor hdd. it takes up ( after all updates as of november 7th) with NO programs on it other than of course what is included in the O.S. 18 gigs. MOST 60 gb drives today are provision at 7% of the drive (espeically the sandforce controller ssds) so 7% of 60 leaves 55.8 gb left then you minus the 18 gb for the o.s. and it's updates SO REALISTICALLY that leaves 37.8 gb left for whatever. get a 90 or 120gb. cheers

@uut0 You are doing it wrong ;-) SSDs aren't about storage or sequential access. They are about lots of small random reads and writes. You don't use them to store the latest episode of CSI on. You use them as your primary OS drive and put the rest on a regular HDD. OSs typically do a lot of small reads and write and so particularly benefit from being on a SSD. Your application launch times will drop like a stone and your whole system will be seem much faster.

@nobodypersonsomeone Youtube still needs a few minutes to completely finish. It even tells you when you upload a video to give it a few minutes for full quality and no issues

im happy that the guy at the computer store said that ssds werent 100% up to what they can do yet and that i raid 0ed 2 1TB drives get about 180MB/s and having a huge space to store stuff and for only about a fifth of the price :D

Hey Linus, would the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B work on an AM3 CPU? I was thinking because I am thinking of upgrading my SSD as well as my CPU. I have a Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B that I really love and would want to reuse.

I will be using the same motherboard as well. Just upgrading from an AM2 to AM3 CPU and to a newer generation SSD.

Ok so my results with the Corsair Force 60GB SSD have been nothing short of impressive. Absolute reliability with my Desktop PC (K9N2 Sli Platinum Mobo), and I get from POST to Windows Logon in just under 6 seconds, its stupid fast. 90% of the complaints I have seen on Newegg & Corsair's Forums have been from Laptop Owners, LAPTOP OWNERS BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK! As for Desktop's GET IT, for 104.99 and the performance you get, its worth it, just remember AHCI MODE gets the best results for SSD's.

Don't forget about the major degrade in performance that a much older SSD would be suffering from at this point since they didn't support TRIM.

@gitarzann SAME!!! but i would also like em to be bigger then 60 gig without costing me a fortune

Is it still worth buying this SSD? I'm planning to use it to boot up my OS, just want to know whether it's reliable.

Thanks!
