Hello everyone, well when I was reading Norwegian Wood from Haruki Murakami, one of the characters was always reading the Great Gatsby so I thought it was time to FINALLY read this book that I had on my shelves for many years to see what the fuss was about.

Here's what I thought.

Was I too harsh? What did you think of The Great Gatsby?

Was obsessed with George Orwell's 1984 and Road to Wigan Pier

I've had Gatsby for a long time but never came across to read it. Last week I read Norwegian wood. Watanabe quotes Gatsby various times, and that made me pick up Gatsby right after finishing Norwegian wood. Great novel, very realistic, filled with flawed characters

I thought it was a great story and very well written. As for a book that I'm fascinated about, one is The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton.

Wow! Great presentation on Gatsby and connection with my favorite author Murakami. I also picked up Gatsby a couple of times in the past but couldn’t get past the first 50 or so pages. I recently tried again and finished it. A great story idea but buried under by tediously bad writing.
Happy to have found your channel! Your videos are excellent!

Finally somebody said it. All books by FSF are kinda cheesy. Most have not withstood the test of time. His "tales of the jazz age" read obsolete. To be fair, so are most books of his arch-rival Hemingway.
