ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

The most beautiful thing of Shoemaker's story is, that when he died, his ashes were carrying to the Moon. That was his dream, to be there. Very nice, touching story

It's Troy that is singing the chorus :) The narration was done by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife.

Tuomas sitting at home, in front of his Keyboards, thinking: "What can I write, Floor can't sing? Hmm, let's try this..." Failed!!!

A brilliant tribute to Eugene Shoemaker,
Geologist/Astronomer, the only person in history whos ashes is buried on the moon. Laudato Si Ad Astra-Praise Be To The Stars

"You don't know what's coming" it's basically the description of Nightwish last record. Expect the unexpected.

The ending of this song gets me every single damn time... my heart and emotions were not ready for this whole album!! 🥰😭😭😭

Floor said she felt the things Tuomas asked her to do on this album were the hardest yet.

The man is a genius...and has been blessed with some impressive instruments to 'play'.

Eugene Shoemaker is also the only human being resting on another celestial body, some of his ashes are scattered on a crater named after him on The Moon's south pole.

My new favorite thing is watching people react to the operatic part in shoemaker 😄

Thank you for your reaction/analysis Rebecca! ❤️

01:22 "Is that Tuomas?"
It's Troy (British multi-instrumentalist/singer), Tuomas doesn't (usually) sing, he "only" writes all the songs

02:08 "prr prrr prrr"
😂❤️❤️

03:33 "They just love images of the moon"
Yes (as you found out after reaction) this song is about one of the founders of planetary science, Eugene Shoemaker, who always wanted to travel to moon. He was himself a possible astronaut candidate for an Apollo Moon travel, but was disqualified due to Addison's disease. However after he died in 1997, his dreams finally became true, since some of his ashes were carried to the Moon. He is the only person whose remains have been placed on any celestial body outside Earth.

04:20 "It's like a rollecoaster, you just don't know what's going to come"
That is usually the case with Nightwish songs, and advantages of symphonic metal

04:33 "Who is speaking?"
Johanna, she is Tuomas' wife. She is also singer of Auri (a band with Tuomas & Troy). The brass foil wrapping of Shoemaker's memorial capsule includes the quotation from Shakepeare's Romeo and Juliet we hear Johanna speaking in the song

04:52 "This is beautiful, listen now"
Yes, and came totally off-guard. The words she is singing "Laudato Si Ad Astra" means "Praise To Be To The Stars"

05:04 "This is so lovely"
05:15: "THIS IS SO EPIC MY GOSH"
06:45 "A FIERCE SONG"
07:55 "Floor at the end, flooring it, so to speak, floorgasms a plenty, falling from sky"
YESS, I also got multiple floorgasms during crescendo and really got floored at climax

Never stop reacting RVA ❤️

Nightwish is the only band which when releases a new album i and i bet a ton of other people can't wait for the live version of the songs. It's this pure Floor magic that transforms the song into pure emotion on live performances.

Astronomy geek, loving this, so does NASA staff.

Nevski (Nightwish) used the "Ad Astra" as the closing piece in recent live show :)

Jansen said this was a difficult song to sing... I now get it!

(nightwish got better as a band with Floor there, oh yeah!)

Won’t anybody talk about the drums? Through out the whole album, the drums serve the songs just beautifully. Nail it with each note!!

As 'J.F. Luiña Bousquet' wrote ; What puts Floor Jansen one step above the rest it's not just her powerful voice or the belting, or sustaining high notes for a long time. We all know she's a powerhouse, but it's her versatility and how she's a musical chameleon what makes her so unique, she can sing in any style, any technique, any song, and make it sound like it was written for her. Other singers can also belt and reach high notes, but she can also keep it small and soft, sing acoustic, intimate songs and still sound powerful and in total control of her voice. And last but not least she's a true PERFORMER, a storyteller, she feels the lyrics, she lives the song, she amplifies the emotion and blows you away. If it's a happy song she will make your life better, if she's singing a sad song she'll make you cry like a baby.

And now, this is the reaction I've been waiting for. As many other pointed out, this is actually a tribute to Eugene Merle Shomaker, who contributed so much to the space exploration and planetary science in general. He is the only person whose remains are on the other celestial body (Moon). Thank you Rebecca for doing this. Hope you guys are safe and many greetings from Croatia.

This whole album is epic, but this song stands amongst them all as the best. Incredible.

Rebecca, you know what i really enjoy about your reviews is your ability to put into words, what the emotions and the heart are trying to outwardly express. In my opinion, one of the most powerful songs I have heard from Nightwish, and thank you for pausing at the right spots to explain your thoughts. Stay safe..
