Getting Accepted Into Dental School With A Low GPA and DAT

Hello everyone, in today's video I discuss the chances of getting into dental school with a low GPA and low DAT score. I am a current dental student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, and I am making this video to give you guys insight and my honest opinion on this topic. I hope you guys find this video helpful and are not too discouraged by the advice I give. If you do not fall within this range, DO NOT PANIC! People who fall below this GPA and DAT do get accepted as I mentioned countless times in this video. However, you will maximize your chances by aiming to have higher a GPA and DAT score, if you are one who is also involved in extracurricular activities, research, jobs, etc. Anything is possible admissions committees are unpredictable when it comes to accepting students. Hey, is there a way to figure out the % of in state vs out of state accepted at the different schools around the U.S.?

Another thing you didn’t bring up was that you may have lower than a 19 AA but as long as the individual scores for each section are higher than a 16 AA (the normal cut off for a lot of schools) you would be fine. Because an admissions person told me they take all applicants and if they have, for example, less than a 17 AA in the specific section they are looking at they will discard your application. Awesome video!!

I’ll be applying next year, I haven’t taken the DAT yet but I have a 3.6 GPA with a full time job, a part time job, full time mom and full/half time student ... I’m 26 so I guess I’m a non traditional student. I hope I get get into dental school . I’m willing to drop my jobs to go to dental school . I currently hate the career field that I am in 😩
