This is our first time listening to The Archies. Sugar Sugar is another song that sounds oddly familiar.

This is what we called 'bubblegum music' because it was aimed towards pre-teens and teenagers. I remember buying ARCHIE comic books, watching THE ARCHIE SHOW on Saturday mornings, (BTW, Sabrina The Teen-Age Witch was an Archies character), and of course listening to this sweet and joyful music!

I'm so old that I remember this song was put on a square, cardboard backed record, that came on the back of cereal boxes...I got my copy and I was so happy lol.. it played great! Great reaction. Thank you. 😊

LOL, Lex got the look of a little girl in a candy shop, Brad looks like he's saying to himself, "what is this crap?" I'm pretty sure this song has been used in thousands of TV and radio commercial jingles.

I got this song for free on the back of a cereal box. You’d cut out the back of the box and play it on your record player. I’m old🤷🏻‍♂️

I watched the Archie’s cartoon every Saturday morning. I also bought their comic books. This was around 1968 or 69. I was 7 or 8 years old then

This is what they used to call "Bubble gum" music. I believe it is the original and all the radio stations played it because it was so innocent.

I was 11 when this came out in 1969, and it was all over the airwaves after debuting on the Archies cartoon on Saturday morning. A HUGE pop phenomenon at the time.

This song is a result of the collaboration of pure music royalty. Written by Jeff Barry and Andy Kim, and sung by Ron Dante and Toni Wine. Their CVs are just mindblowing.

One could not escape this song in 1969. I was a senior in high school. Led Zeppelin had released I & II that year and my musical interests swerved in a new direction...

Lex gets it. She couldn't resist dancing to it and got that it represents the early, love struck, stages of a relationship.

The 60s and 70s where the greatest decades for catchy songs.

Fictional band, based on a comic book. The writer, Jeff Barry, wrote lots of 60s hits.

Lex's reaction reminded me of my sister with the giggles. 5 thumbs up on this reaction from Lex.

If there ever was a tune that reflects Lex's character, maybe it's this one!

The Archies had another hit that my older sister used to play ALL OF THE TIME back in the late 1960s and early 1970s titled "Jingle Jangle". That one was also featured in their cartoon.

The crew of Apollo 12 played this song on the way to the moon in 1969. Now you guys have something in common with the space program.

I was 13 when this song came out in 1969 and I still love The Archies. "Sugar Sugar" was their biggest hit (and the #1 song of 1969) but they also had Top 40 hits with "Bang Shang A Lang", "Jingle Jangle" and "Who's Your Baby?". Their song "Sunshine" only reached #57 but IMO is nearly as good as "Sugar Sugar" while "Get on the Line" was not released as a single but should have been and I enjoy many other songs from their 5 albums. Ron Dante was the lead singer and later produced many of Barry Manilow's albums and hit songs. Ron Dante was also the lead singer of The Cuff Links who had a Top 10 hit "Tracy" while "Sugar Sugar" was still in the Top 10.

This came out when I was young. The Archies was a cartoon based on a comic book on Sat mornings (that used to be a BIG thing for kids) This was a popular song on the radio but it was made for the cartoon show. They had another hit called Bang Shang-a-lang.

This and 4 Non Blondes “what’s up” are my 2 year old grandson’s favorite songs. “What’s Up” is his favorite, he sings it all day and even woke up and sang it and went back to sleep the other night 😂
