The "original" Mcdonalds isn't actually the original. It's the location in Downey, CA, which does hold the record for the oldest McDonalds that is still running. The original Mcdonalds was actually opened in San Bernardino but has since been closed down. Fun fact though: the location of the original Mcdonalds in San Bernardino was purchased by Albert Okura, the owner of the Juan Pollo restaurant chain, and converted to a museum because he was a huge fan of the Mcdonalds franchise. I've been to the museum, however, and I wouldn't really recommend going out of your way for it, as it and a lot of the surrounding area have become worn down. It's mostly comprised of a large collection of happy meal toys from throughout the years and some signed memorabilia from the "The Founder" movie.

I'm honestly really happy that they didn't renovate it. It keeps the atmosphere lively and honestly the building looks better than the modern ones now. It looks more like a fast food place and not a cafe or whatever they're turning it into.

Mac Tonight is a classic mascot. They would've kept him but replaced him with a clown after a copyright issue regarding the song he sang. The song was a parody of another and the owners of the song wanted it removed for some reason I'm not looking up. Mac Tonight matched the era he was part of but probably would've changed if he had stayed or the restaurants would've changed to fit his theme as time moved on. I definitely prefer him over the clown
