Blithe was outright slandered. It was criminal it wasn’t rectified. Then made it into the series!

Thanks for the video I do agree with your choices!!... I wish Hollywood would make war movies sticking to the facts and Let the real stories play out...Thanks

Another Home Run video. #10 i thought those Paris scenes were important to show how a soldier would feel out of place in civilization. Every deployer knows that weird feeling of being in a shithole area one day and staring at civilization on the next like it was the strangest thing they'd ever seen.

Everything you do to show the truth is very well accepted. Looking forward to the timeline.

The Edelweis was not only a special badge worn on the field cap of Austrian Gebirgsjäger - and it still is, but also a sign of then German Gebirgsjäger units prior to WWII. It's origin dates back to the mountain troops in WWI.

I truly appreciate the series "Band of Brothers" for drawing attention to lives and events of a small unit of soldiers in the realities of a large war, based on the memories of the actual men involved. The attempts of getting even some smallest details correct was unparalleled for its time, before or since.

However, as the ability to research the actual events is made more and more available, it appears that Hollywood provided unnecessary fiction (and outright defamation) when the truth would have sufficed. Thank you for digging out some of those truths.

I thought #10, where Winters is startled by the boy who resembles the kid he shot in holland, was one of the most truthful scenes in the series. If not truthful to Winters story, then truthful to any veteran who had to kill someone, face to face, who posed no personal threat to themselves of any kind.

I'll just add that my Grandfather, who only rarely mentioned his experiences in WWI, once told my mother of such a situation and I instantly recognized him in Winters when I watched that scene.

Agree 100%. Mark Bando's review of the BoB is also quite good I think

How about the scene where Webster goes across the river on the mission to get the prisoner? In his book he states that he didn't go.

Awesome video, I really enjoy watching your stuff!
Oh and do you by any chance know if there is a place where I can read the letter from Sobel to Malarkey regarding the motorcycle?

Ammo, a little water and chow, and War & Truth videos. All a soldier needs.

It is a shame that such a brave and glorious unit had so many historical inaccuracies. I read the book, saw the series and took an Easy Company Tour. Hard not to feel let down. Agree with your selections. Great job!

Never rely on Hollywood to be your history teacher

With Blithe, we fell in love with him, then we thought that he died a long and horrible prolonged death- I was just so relieved that he survived, and didn’t die in pain.
All this said- I’m sure that some brave souls gave their lives and died in such a way.
My uncle was one of those that was thought to had been killed and frozen to death- but made some moaning noise. Suffered for years and then died in pain.

The scene where Norman Dike is depicted as freaking out and acting like a coward at Foy could have been included in this list as well.

I concur with your assessment. There were some seriously egregious scenes in BoB. Particularly those that misrepresented veterans in a negative light, (Spiers, Cobb and Blithe in particular)

Also the scene in the back of the truck, where Winters took a drink. The writers included it to show “bonding” and disregarded the protests of the advisors.

I am very impressed with your attempts to separate fact from fiction. By correcting the inaccuracies of lazy historians and Hollywood writers, the truth emerges.

👍👍 Really impressive attention to detail! You highlight some truly awful errors plus some less significant flaws. The series would have been greatly enhanced has all these errors been eliminated with greater screen time made available for those true events you depicted in your previous video. Lost opportunities.
