i think Oblivion is more of a fitting ending to the franchise. Reggie crossing the dimensional fork ajd Mike dying in the desert and his last memory being of Reggie picking him up in the ice cream truck and driving away into the blackness. it's almost like Reggie was going back in time to find Mike as a kid so they could start over to maybe try to find a way to defeat the tall man before it comes to that point where Mike dies in Oblivion. so its like everything comes full circle and the cycle just repeats itself all over again.

It's not the Phantasm we deserve, but the phantasm that we need.

The moments that were good, were really good. Like everything in the desert, and the sub plot of Reggie and Mike in "The place", and especially the superb acting by Reggie Bannister. But as it progressed i couldn't keep up with was happening and the end i had even more questions then at the end of part 4.
I know they put a lot of effort in this and i'am happy we got anything at all, but i'd lying if i said i wasn't somewhat dissapointed, i wish they had a cheesy BOOM, tallman is gone, everything is over, let's get in our Barracuda and ride off into the sunset type moment.

I don't think there's ever been an iconic franchise from the late 70s-80s that's had a satisfying final chapter.

amazing Hollywood can shell out money for crappy movies and garbage reboots but no one wanted to fund this wonderful story and even without funding it's still better then most the recycled garbage Hollywood puts out today

Phantasm is the first horror movie I ever watched. I was only five or six years old, and have been a fan ever since. That's about 34 years. I am completely satisfied. I love this movie. I just watched it the other day, and thought it was beautiful. The story and it's details have always been pretty ambiguous, so I couldn't imagine how they could possibly tie a bow around it and call it finished, without ruining the mystery. The thing that has kept me interested since that first viewing as a wee lad, is simply that I don't totally get it. There's a David Lynch quality to this series, in that you never know what the hell is about to happen, and then when it happens, you have no idea why, or what it meant. They nailed it. Is it all in Reggie's head? Did the Tall Man trick him? I don't know....and that's why I own these movies and keep on watching them. I am one fan who is very happy with this.

My first introduction to the series was the trailer for 2. The whole 'The Ball is Back!' trailer seemed to be on every VHS i rented back in the day. Finally picked up a box set about three-four years ago to watch them. WTF!! Maddest horror series out there and clearly not for everyone. The closest series I feel is the Hellraiser films and they followed a similar path in terms of quality, but I need to revisit the Phantasm series to find out if they should stay in the collection. Its always good to hear that those involved are so dedicated to their fans that they'll go out of their way to get a movie made, even after hearing 'no' from most of the people in the industry. Good review as always dude

I don't know if can view this movie objectively because of how much the series means too me. The first film so perfectly reflected my own emotional state when I lost someone close to me in my early teens. I love the film and its characters for that. Ravager felt like I was having a final gathering of friends and family

Seems to be a common thing with actors who play horror movie villians. They have great sense of humor and/or just really nice to there fans.

it really sucks Angus isn't around for a possible sequel. It didn't feel like an ending, it was just spinning its wheels for the most part. You can really tell Don had changed his way of doing things since John dies at the end. Not a bad thing, but it just didn't end without leaving more questions. What's going to happen to Reggie and the planet earth?
I never knew about the planned finale with Bruce Campbell, that would have been so freaking bad ass. I wasn't expecting Rocky or Jodi to be in this film at all. but now its like this mad max scenario? So weird.

If any of you still need a Phantasm fix, I highly recommend reading "Phantasm Exhumed" by Dustin McNeill. Very informative and entertaining look into the making of all five movies.

I can't decide how to read the ending. There are clues that Reggie really had the dementia, like when he forgot Dawn's name, and then thinks Jane is Dawn. Even the farm hand in the stable is called "Demeter". But I really don't want Reggie to have died from such a horrible disease. But then I remember that every other time Reggie appears to get killed off, its just another Phantasm psyche out.

This film was basically a thank you to all the fans and so we could all see Angus one last time before his passing as the Tall Man, I don't think anyone on the film or Don said anything different it was a homage to and a tribute to Angus, if you are a true long time fan of the series you should get that.

I need to go back and watch all of these movies. Love your channel man. Not enough people put a spotlight on movies like these. Not sure if you've ever reviewed The Gate, Shock Em Dead or Ninja 3 but those are Good/Bad movies that shaped my childhood 😨

i will not cry even if i want to, because how unfair the treatment to this franchise has been, i remember having started with Phantasm III and knowing (when i was a kid) that it was a cheap movie, but somehow it grew on me and i just love it, and even if this is a cheap movie i believe all the fans will overlook the cheapness and concentrate on having closure to the story we have been waiting to see for so long :') keep up the good work! I always recommend you to my friends :D

Just watched it tonight, I really liked it, but I'm a fan. I watched the first one with my first wife at the drive in when it first came out. She was holding onto my hand because she was scared, when the sphere hit the janitors head, she jerked my hand up to her face and busted her lip, she didn't notice it until I saw the blood on back of my hand...I guess she wasn't so bad. Good times

Good review. Just how I felt, right down the middle. But it was nice to see Angus Scrimm going out on the role that made the man an Icon, and still able to put the chill up your spine by just standing there.... Sleep now, good sir, and though you will be missed, the phans will make sure you live on!
