The Wii probably has the most interesting cases of scraped and lost content of any console I’ve ever seen

I love learning about unused and cut beta content, especially in products as iconic as the Wii.

The DVD function was probably cut for the TV notomo channel, a channel only in Japan that allowed you to watch TV on the Wii. The loyalty fees would be devastating considering the amount of Wii’s sold.

Man, seeing through all of this unused and lost content is like going through a museum that was frozen in time…

Thank for another amazing video as always! 🎉

Here are a few more notes regarding the beta Wii Shop Channel screenshots:

. For the first screenshot, the first game is a Fire Emblem game although it seems like the screenshot and text are for different Fire Emblem games.
. The second game is Mario World. No inconsistencies here. I don’t know what the red text is saying however.
. The third game is titled as Super Robot Wars Gaiden: Lord of the Element but the screenshot is from a different game (IDK what game exactly but it looks like a Bomberman game). This game is listed as a rental.
. The fourth game is listed as Micheal Jackson’s Moonwalker but the screenshot is from a different game (looks like Jet Force Gemini).

. For the second screenshot, the image shows Sonic the Hedgehog but the game is actually listed as A Link to the Past. The Sonic screenshot is just a placeholder.
. The release date is clearly a placeholder as A Link to the Past (or Sonic for that matter) did not come out in 1999.
. The game is listed as being a Famicom (NES) game, even though it is a Super Famicom/SNES game.
. The game has a CERO A rating for all ages (which is correct) but it also has content warnings.
. The content warnings are for love, sexual content, violence and horror. I don’t remember any sex happening in A Link to the Past.

The third screenshot is once again listed as A Link to the Past with more placeholder screenshots from Sonic. The last screenshot is also for A Link to the Past.

This video reminds me of G4tor's, another youtuber who went over obscure Wii information. Anyway, very interesting video. Loved seeing how the Wii was developed over time

The RC1 menu does support showing the banners, and the channels do have banner data inside of them for that menu. It's just the way you converted the WADs from NDEV to Retail deleted the banners as they are stored in the trailer files (which said tools ignore)
