The Laniakea Supercluster is the galaxy supercluster.
It is home for Milky Way, Andromeda and approximately 100,000 other nearby galaxies.
The name Laniakea means 'Immense Heaven'
in Hawaiian.
The Laniakea Supercluster consist of approximately 100,000 galaxies in it and stretched out over 160 megaparsecs or 520 million light years.
The most massive galaxy clusters of Laniakea are Virgo, Hydra, Centaurus, Coma, Hercules etc.
Our home, Milkyway galaxy is present in Virgo galaxy clusture.
The entire supercluster consists of approximately 300 to 500 known galaxy clusters and groups.
The Great Attractor is present at the centre of the Laniakea Supercluster.
The Great Attractor is a gigantic mass in space which pulls our Milky Way galaxy, and many other galaxies towards it.
But Milky Way is located far from the Great Attractor and it is called Zone of Avoidance.
It was defined in September 2014 by a team of Astronomers.
They gathered data on more than 8000 of the galaxies that surround us.
They mapped each galaxies positions and movement in space and for the first time they shown that the milkyway is passed for much larger system of galaxy, a supercluster.
That they have named it Laniakea Super cluster.
The Entire Universe can be seen as a Cosmic web of galaxies.
Some areas are always empty , dark void and other are densely packed with galaxies.
So now we knows, at the edge of the supercluster Laniakea in a galaxy called the Milky way around a star we call the sun there is a small blue planet our home.

Great attractor is far away from us but it isn’t called Zone of avoidance. ZoA is actually huge amount of dust and gases present in Milky Way that’s preventing us from looking.
