I Got Scammed By Flixbus In USA

I started my journey by taking the metro to the bus station, ready for my Flixbus trip to DC. But things didn’t go as planned... After waiting for my bus, I suddenly saw it leaving without me! 😱 When I asked the bus staff, they said I missed it and needed to buy a new ticket. Talk about a travel scam!

Despite the setback, I managed to book another bus and finally arrived in Washington DC. After taking the metro, I reached my hostel and settled in. The next day, I explored DC's vibrant city center and streets, soaking in the sights and sounds of the capital. 🏛️🌆

Once I had to travel from Pennsylvania to New York by bus, I think it was a Greyhound or something and back in the day you needed to print your ticket and not just show on your phone. I was not aware of that and the bus driver refused to let me in. So I asked him would it be possible to buy a brand new ticket for cash to which he said yes. I pulled out a $100 bill as the ticket cost was $60. The driver said he doesn’t have any cash and so he would keep all the $100. I then knew he was taking a mick. I told him that’s ridiculous and asked him if I could get on the bus and ask other passengers for change, the driver denied and literally shut the door on my face and zoomed off. Fortunately, my flight back to the UK was next day so my cousin came to the rescue, drove all the way to PA and collected me. Once I was back in the UK I wrote to the bus company complaining what had happened. They immediately apologised and sent me a cheque of if I remember correctly over $200 to compensate which was very nice of them. I did tell them that it was a matter of racism and I would take it forward if they didn’t look into it. They mentioned that they would also have a chat with the driver. All in all it was an experience to learn from 😃

You can use the same ticket for the other bus. It depends on the bus conductor. They usually dont scan in the second bus and allow you in if there's empty seats

The earlier you book, the cheaper the coach cost. It's a general rule. Late booking higher cost

Almost similar thing happened to me in europe, they just returned 10€ out of the total ticket price.

U have to wait in the waiting area and ask the driver beforehand .Flix bus from new york is from this place near penn station and greyhound from port terminal bus authority. There has been no issue with this ever with me .

Dude, if you are such a international traveler, you are not like most Indian travelers so try to keep foreign credit card like American Express or something else for urgent situations instead of only Indian bank cards. If Flixbus is causing problem and not refunding as a last resort you can show them the middle finger, you can try to request your bank to just chargeback that amount and the bank should settle the dispute refunding the amount to you. If you need to use that bus service again ever then just use new card if they deny you service.
