The Big Bus (or equivalent) is always a good way to discover the width of a city and the way a city is "organised". And you can spot the places you want to visit or find new ones. And let's face it : when you've just arrived, totally jetlagged but still have a whole day to fill, it's a good option. In any city, in my opinion.

Even though I’m a native NYer, I’m definitely one of those NYers that has never fully seen most of the state before, so I would be a tourist in my own home state. In the city I’ve only ever seen Times Square, 9/11 memorial, Penn Station, and of course for the holidays…Radio City, but I’ve never seen or been to any of the other tourist attractions. I’ve never been upstate before, and even though I live on Long Island….I’ve only ever been to Long Beach, Jones Beach, and Nautical Mile in Freeport. So my goal before this year ends is still visit and see as much of NY as possible.

The waiter throwing straws at the lady was funny😂😂😂! I will maybe do the double decker bus maybe in November when I visit NYC again for the amazing views! I did the circle line cruise about a year ago and was well worth the 30 bucks

Clever idea, love the undercover "tourist disguise"! 😅👏 I had a friend that made me do ALL the tourist stuff once with one of the all-inclusive passes. I remember a party bus that was a fun experience and touring Radio City and also church catacombs were pretty cool. He also made me wait for Stardust and I ordered the cheapest "meal" which was $12 soup haha.
A tip for anyone wanting a fantastic view of the East River and all its bridges is to ride the NYC Ferry! Only $2.75/ride (may go up to $4 in Sept?) and free transfers as well. You can go all the way to Queens, and down to Bay Ridge (my neighborhood;) stopping at Pier 11/Wall St, DUMBO, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Red Hook (IKEA), & eventually adding Coney Island. There are lots of other routes as well, check it out! My favorite way around and much less touristy! 😉

As a native New Yorker that moved to Florida when I go back to visit family I make sure to do the touristy stuff I didn’t get to do as a kid. 😂 my family thinks it’s cringey but oh well 🤷‍♂️ I’m definitely going to do the night cruise you did. the Statue of Liberty 🗽 looks amazing at night

It's our last day here in New York heading back to derby UK Tomorrow evening, your tips and tricks have been an absolute god send. I l've walked past the Stardust Diner many times & have never been there. The line seems to be too long (I went to Birdland back in February based on your recommendation)

John. Seriously. The Circle Line has a ton of sentimental value as my family did the CL several times when I was a kid. The last couple of visits, bringing 1st time NYC visitors with me, we’ve done the cruise. THE best way to see NYC and the tour guides are usually outstanding. The only downside is that sometimes the tides don’t cooperate and the boat cannot completely circle Manhattan Island. Thanks for fun video. I really enjoy all your videos 😃

Really great video Jon. As a local that has never done any of these things, seeing all of the tourists "oooh and aaah" over the Statue of Liberty made me a bit teary with pride. I love this City and feel so blessed to be able to live here and get these views everyday! See ya around Park Slope neighbor! :)

Circle line looked nice, but for a sunset view of Manhattan, I really liked what we did on La Barca Cantina.

I remember being on this bus and thinking I would see you walking along the street! 😂😂 I do recommend it though, we enjoyed it, but wouldn’t do it next time we come. We were in New York over thanksgiving week and the stardust diner line was 1 hour and 30. After seeing your video it isn’t mine and my partners scene. We plan to come back again in the future and we will definitely do the cruise, that looked really good. Always a great video.
