What do I do if my doctor, in my opinion, has me very under medicated? I had 2 consecutive miscarriages over the summer, then had blood work that determined I was hypo and my TSH was 5.57. She put me on 25mcg. That seems way too low- especially because she told me that we can keep trying right away. I don’t believe her that it’s safe.

I've had hypothyroidism since 12 years old, and I'm 36 years old now. Right now I'm 33 weeks pregnant, and I had been trying since I was 28 years old, and I lost all other pregnancies around 6 weeks. I gained weight for the first time this whole pregnancy. I gained one pound from week 30 to 32. I was overweight going in to this though.

"Fetal thyroid begins to make TSH at about 10-12 weeks gestation."
I thought the pituitary makes the TSH.🤔

Hi Dr. Bolin,

What is your opinion on treating the patient who is subclinical hypo and newly pregnant with a lower dose of synthroid vs a full replacement dose ? Will it have any negative impact on mother and fetus ?

How can fetal hypothyroidism be the result of under treating maternal hyperthyroidism when thyroid hormones and TRAb can cross the placenta?

Thank you, Mr. Paul. People, please contribute to the patreon so these wonderful teachings continue unabated. They are really informative if not at times undervalued. I hope he can circle back at some point and continue to deepen the info in the general med section. Tests these days are heavy on what is the next best diagnostic step and questions regarding meaning of test results and next treatment steps. Doctor Paul frequently alludes to these matters. No, it is not meant to be a replacement for 'UpToDate' or 4 years of school. Please do not ask for his slide decks. That is entirely inappropriate.

I just found out im 6 weeks pregnant, my thyroid is definitely not under control it's so high that it's shut down and it's acting like hypo, my progesterone is low so im doing supplements starting today. Im terrified that my baby will be born with brain defects.
