EASIEST Way to Pair Clownfish! (High Success Rate)

These tips and tricks I share are the best ones I've learned over the years. Pairing clownfish should be simple if you use these tips.

1) Make sure the species of clownfish you're trying to pair are the same! Although Percula and Ocellaris clownfish might look similar, they are two different species. This is a MUST when pairing clownfish!

2) Size matters! When trying to pair clownfish make sure the new clownfish you introduce is smaller than your existing clown! This makes the process easier and faster because fighting for dominance is either cut out completely or is very short because the smaller clown will surrender much faster.

3) Because clownfish can be somewhat territorial, moving around the aquascape before introducing the new clown can help the process because your existing clown will no longer have a territory it has to protect. If you can't move around your rocks because your reef is already established then you can skip this step.

I paired a black percula with a false orange percula. This was 5 years ago, and they’re still doing great. They’re big now too, 3+ inches long.

Percula and ocellaris can actually be paired and it isn't very hard. There are many different hybrids out there because people always breed them together.

I ordered a frostbite and they mixed up my order and the one they sent me was the exact same size as my current one. About an inch. They luckily didn't fight at all! 2 things might have happened: the one that I got was male because it lived in a harem. Or they're both too young. But everything worked out and they didn't fight at all.

I got two black storms they don’t seem to have paired. They are still babies but they stay separate most of the time. How can you tell when they are paired ? The bigger one attacks the other it doesn’t seem like they paired. They been in the tank for about a month or two

I had an established reef and a single clown so couldn't rescape(not want to) so I put the new smaller one in a 8 inch square mesh breeding box with the old established clown and just left em overnight together and by morning they had paired. But the first time I tried adding a smaller clown the female bullied it to death. I have a black and white ocerlaris paired with a misbar orange one.

I added a small maroon to my big maroon, but this was a no go. So I have added the small one and segregated out the big one. I have the big one in a containment within the tank, and plan to add it back in two days. I hope this works the same as rearranging the tank, and that the big maroon feels like it has been added to a new home. Here’s to hoping.

Yo I have a question can you have 2 medium black and white ocellaris clownfish and 2 small orange ocellaris clownfish in a 46 gallon tank?

I have had one for about a month now. It is a misbar. I just got another misbar much smaller. The bigger one is keeping it at the top corner of the tank. Will my bigger one kill my smaller one.
