Clownfish were definitely my gateway drug, I’ve only had my saltwater tank about 10 months but now I have a leopard wrasse, engineer gobies, a pair of mandarins, and some chromis, blennies, and tangs😂😂

Thank you for this! I just set up my first ever tank and while I wait for the conditions to be perfect I'm researching what my first fish should be, and you are SO informative. G

I have a maroon clown in my 180 gallon tank. He was the first fish we put in there when we were cycling the tank... 17 years later and he's still the king of the tank. Even the foot long Annularis angelfish knows not to mess with him. LOL

Nice Vid! I set up a saltwater tank specifically because I wanted clowns. The biggest hurdle was disease. I set up a quarantine tank for a pair of clowns that I think had flukes, and I could never get the quarantine to balance correctly. That tank kept killing fish. I found out I could get pre-medicated/quarantined fish so waited 3 months then bought a couple clowns that had gone through that service. I should have done that from the get go. It would have saved me a lot of money and heartache.

I had no idea that it’s a good idea to keep clownfish fish in pairs but i still bought 2 just cause I didn’t want one to be lonely. I have one that’s about 1 inch and the other is about half an inch. The smaller one always sticks with the bigger one. It’s kinda cute lol

Also to add:

If your clown has white spots, it could be a disease or it was just playing in the sand.

If your clown is swimming towards a powerhead, it could be a disease or it’s just playing with the flow.

If your clown is laying motionless against the overflow grates, it could be dead or it’s just playing with the flow.

These fish are called “clowns” for a reason.

My clown challenges me to stick my hand in the tank, just so it can bite me. We have a love/hate relationship.

SHARK BAIT HOO HA HA. lmao. Great vid. I suppose so many incompatible fish are purchased based on the animated classic. Thanks for putting them all into proper perspective. I'm advanced as far as freshwater tanks go, but going to "dive in" (pardon the pun) to the saltwater reef tank hobby. Doing a ton of research and due diligence beforehand and your vids are greatly appreciated.

I’ve heard the most common coral they host is hairy mushrooms, especially if they grow and form a mini colony. Since I believe they think they’re carpet anemones (and the mushrooms don’t seem to be bothered)

Love it Alex
My black and white clown in season I could not put my hand in the tank. I could only feed them. He bite me or if I took the cover off he jump out at me and flap on the floor asking me to put him back. Blood definitely 💯👌. Keep em Coming Alex

Understaterment of the year: "somewhat aggressive". Even a single female will become seriously territorial and attack your hands - usually drawing blood.
