"If This Is Goodbye" Lyrics
I know, just a bunch of crazy kids, look at all the things we did, never thought it would end like this
Wake up, playing in the high school band
never really had a plan
Made it to the promised land
So here’s a toast
to me and you and every single show
Cheers a toast
to living fast but always dancing slow
Here’s a toast, to saying yes whenever I said no

Chorus:
If this is goodbye
let’s take one more shot for the memories
life’s too short to be enemies
And if this ends tonight
you can save your tears for the other guys
I’ll see you in another life

I know, every story has to end
We may never comprehend
what a crazy ride it’s been
Oh no, I know we may never be best friends
but for a couple hours we can
for a couple hours pretend
So here’s a toast
to me and you and every single show
Cheers a toast
to living fast bust always dancing slow
Here’s a toast, to saying yes whenever I said no

(Chorus)
Goodbye, and maybe if the stars align
I’ll see you in another life
You’re missing all the tears we’ll cry
We have one more night so

(Chorus x 2)
Goodbye, and maybe if the stars align
I’ll see you in another life
You’re missing all the tears we’ll cry
we have one more night, goodbye

Nothing lasts forever, but Chicago’s music does. If this is goodbye, thanks for all the memories.

What makes this band so great is, they are the most diverse band in history. They also can adapt to any era of music.

hard not to be moved by this, when you’ve appreciated (maybe even loved) this band your whole life….if this is goodbye, then thank you Chicago for all the great music, all the great times

If this is goodbye, thank you Chicago for 55 years of beautiful music! Your catalog of tunes are timeless and will never grow old.

Outstanding! I've been a huge fan of the group since 1984. I enjoy all parts of their career from the late 60's, throughout the 70's, 80's, and 90's, as well as currently. This summer, I will be seeing them live in Chicago for the 55th time, on their 55th Anniversary Tour, just a few days shy of my 55th birthday. As this latest release says: "And maybe if the stars align...." 😊

Amazing that James, Lee, Walt and Robert are still together after all these years.
This is wat true friendship is all about!

When I listen to this song, I take the lyric "Life's too short to be enemies" to heart. When I hear of feuds with people in some situations, I think of that lyric.

Love this new song. I think we all feel nostalgic for the old days. It's a perfect tribute to them

Personally I think this is the best song of this album, I mean it’s pretty damn catchy, and just musically, very well sung/played

Loved Chicago since 1969 debut! Prefer the older sound, but love the staying power the band has! Rock On Chicago today, tomorrow and into the future! Love ya babe!

Doesn't matter what Chicago creates & releases, it's ALL good. This is a band that has adapted & whose shelf life knows no end. Longtime fan of the band, I wondered if this track may, in part, have been written in tribute of Walt (Parazaider), one of the founders & longtime saxaphonist of Chicago whose been stricken down by the horrible disease of Alzheimer's. Chicago is never Chicago without the horns ... such as "Chicago 19." I never tire of hearing the trademark crescendo horn lines -- then those Pankow triplets: makes one smile. Golden Years for Chicago!!

I love it. Very sentimental song about their legacy. Lovely vocals from ND. This song is very reminiscent of IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW. Even if this is the final album it's been one helluva ride for 55 years. I will love Chicago regardless of the lineup. IMHO they are legendary like Stones, Beatles, Aerosmith, LZ, PF, KISS, VH, ACDC, AIR SUPPLY & Scorpions.
