The story of Ian Hogg, Military writer, soldier, Master Gunner who with his wife and photographer Anna produced a series of books on tanks, artillery and small arms throughout the 70’s & 80’s. They were my friends.

The ability for seemingly weak materials like sand, wet cloth, compacted wool and even water itself to stop missiles by absorbing their energy was observed in the 16th and 17th centuries. I guess that was key in some way.

I was stationed at a camp where this armour was being developed and tested, I had nothing to do with any of that, but the entire camp was told do not take photographs of any vehicles, and threatened with severe punishment if we did, we did see tanks rolling past with mud daubed in places on them, on the grapevine we heard that the mud was to conceal areas were the armour was damaged to prevent photo's showing details of anything,

Chobe-ham? Chobham is in my backyard, about 6 miles away.
Here we call the village 'Chobham', pronounced 'Chobbum'.
See? easy, isn't it. Say "Chobbum", there you are!

Make your mind up, it’s either Chobham or Cowbham Armour. As a born English speaker, I know it is CHOBHAM ARMOUR.

Wow. I didn't know there were so many ways to pronounce 'Chobham'. 😅

Great video, great armour system but only protects crew, and internal ammunition, even Challenger 2 ( I think, maybe Challenger 1) has internal anti spallding Kevlar nets un turret - spallsing us where fragments if the internal turret wall material would shatter off causing shrappnell on external hit by projectile, so, Chobbam armour may stop pennetration, but shock wave though material - causing spallding, still seems to be a problem.

Son, no mention of the composite armor on the Soviet T64? Fail.

Suggestion: Check how the original language pronounces the item - in Brit English its 'CHOBBAM' not 'Chobe Ham'
We doubtless do horrible unitentional things to Amercian words 🙄

More interesting is how the Russians used the technology, especially on the T-72 which became immune to the L7 105. No one calls this armor Chobham anymore, just laminate armor. And mixing laminate armor with Reactive Plates which isn’t armor, is like saying water lead to wine, entirely different species. Another interesting story is how Israel gets to avoid Intellectual Property rights with stealing L7, Rheinmetall 120 (which the US pays royalties to Rheinmetall), laminate armor and ER plates. We know Russia and China just steal or copy original invention but try to make better.

All you've got to say is history or advancement and you will have Britain to thank for it somewhere. What a country we WERE! NOT ARE NOW!!!. Over to you America give us a new model to follow other than WOKE!!! 😢.
