OMG, I have never seen a tick twister before! I'm getting one for my farm! Pulled a tick just like that off my cat 2 weeks ago, but couldn't get the head, and I've never found anything to work to get ticks out intact. This is great, thanks!

We have tons of ticks here in New England carrying Lyme Disease. The people who told you no twisting are completely wrong. Ticks burrow into the skin twisting clockwise, so when you are removing them twist counter clockwise. Just pulling them out people will risk the head breaking off in the skin and causing an infection. Great job!!! I just removed 2 yesterday with tweezers, that tool would have come in handy!

Glad to see you twisted it out. So many people pull them out and do more damage. Just as a precaution If you find a tick that bloated it is good to have the dog put on doxycycline. Often blood tests come back with a false negative.

Thank you for the demonstration and especially for keeping the tick and telling the owner to take it to the vet. Same thing applies to humans, that the doctor should send the tick away to see if it is a carrier of Lyme disease. I can't stress that enough having been bitten by tick and having had my mother have Lymes disease

NEVER underestimate the detrimental power of a single tick on a dog. A single tick nearly killed my poodle/bichon, Ricky. The night he screamed in pain is seared into my memory--I've never felt so powerless but fortunately he survived and has given enormous joy.

A fairly recent study said 2 out of 3 dogs given flea & tick preventative are harmed physically and/or psychologically (it has happened to my dogs as well) so I just comb & check them daily for ticks and have them tested for tick born diseases later in the summer. So far this has worked out, but I have a white dog so that helps.

Glad you got it off. I was home by myself once and my dog had a tick. I was going to wait until hubby could do it but I could t stand to know it was there so I pulled it off.
