Fun fact: In the Japanese Dub of the Z Broly movie Paragus explained that Broly actually sensed Goku’s power when he first arrived on the trap planet/New Planet Vegeta (Specifically in the scene where they were sizing each other up and everything faded to black except for them and their auras.) and that caused his saiyan instincts to go out of control which made him see Goku as a powerful opponent he wanted to fight and kill, the crying had nothing to do with it. He says quote, “Could it be Kakarrot? Does this mean that Broly’s instincts as a saiyan have been awakened by Kakarrots power, and he is starting to overcome my mind control?”
Also in the JP dub he only knows Goku’s saiyan name because Vegeta said it right in front of Broly. Broly also only starts remembering Goku right when he is defeated.
