2023 Can Am Ryker - Test Ride Review

I test ride the 2023 Can-Am Ryker Rally Edition 3 wheeled motorcycle/vehicle. I ride the vehicle around the city and give my first impressions. I believe Can-Am is the only brand that makes a 3 wheeled vehicle with 2 wheels in the front and 1 in back that you ride like a motorcycle.

The Ryker has different trims. This one was the Rally Edition, which has a few extras over the base model. Upgraded exhaust, better seat, better suspension. This was my first time riding a 3 wheeler as I am used to only riding motorcycles or driving side by sides (UTVs).

The best part from going from motorcycle to Can Am. You literally have no fear riding it. Only thing I really miss about my motorcycle is the ability to lane filter and take corners at ludicrous speeds. As for long rides, Can Am is 100% more comfortable and relaxed, unless you ride a cruiser bike. Have had plenty of scars and scares on my motorcycle, none on my Can Am yet which for me is a good thing.

Like most other people here I rode regular motorcycles for years. In my case I started riding in 1956. Because of some age related issues and injuries through many years of living on the edge. I had to make a decision give up riding or change what I was riding. So I got a Ryker Sport and began a completely new journey in riding. It took me a few days to iron out the pluses and minuses of the three wheeler reversed trike. It was 80 percent of what I had hoped for in the beginning. This brought on the modifications part of the adventure. A fantastic after market seat and Turing wind screen made things comfortable. Added the middle sized floor boards and a steering damper set on the 7th position. Everything I done after the above additions was icing on the cake as they say. Put driving lights, bumper, skid and protective A arm plates, full bags and a couple do dads on. It is a grand little Turing machine and as every bit as capable as the larger F3 units at about half the price with added accessories. It has so far been trouble free and has a good aftermarket support. I also enjoy the fact there are so many ways to personalize the machine and make it yours.
Now to the thing’s some will complain about. The only one I have is I would like 2 or 3 gallons more of fuel. Body panels etc are all plastic but I find this a plus because they don’t rust and all can be replaced cheaply. Some people will feel other people think they are cheap or low income because they are not on a 30 or 40 thousand dollar machine. All I can say is it works very well, seems dependable and insurance and taxes are low.

I have a 21 model about two and a half years ago in August, I'm 81 years old and have 46, 131 MI. I've had no problems except replacing three belts and two motorcycle back tire and front and rear brakes and I write it every day for I write it very hard to the mountains I live in San Diego to me they are great three-wheele

You CAN put a passenger seat, the Rally is NOT the base model, its the top of the line for a Ryker, and its not just a better seat. The Rally has different Rally wheels suspension, push bar, light hood, skid plates, Rally bars and foot pegs, and Rally mode. But NO, Rally mode doesn't affect the cvt transmission. It turns off the abs and traction control.

Many years on two wheels, 70 to be exact. I fought the idea of three wheels and now I wonder why. After I got my 2022 Ryker Sport and learned how to get its potential performance there was no looking back. Great little machines that with a couple small upgrades will do whatever you ask of it.

I think it has it own place is more fun then a motorcycle if you using it to just cruise around your home town or going to get a coffee etc...

You mentioned several times about feeling like you were going to lift a wheel... I don't think the VSS (traction control) will actually allow that to happen. Shoulda' punched it a little harder on those roundabouts to find out! Also, you think the Ryker feels weird, go try a motorcycle with a sidecar.

That looks like great fun! I like that it has power if needed but I would enjoy riding at close to the speed limit. A windshield would need to be added. Thanks for the fun review!

Continually conpares it to a motorcycle throughout the whole video. Was having fun but seemed bored. Let me drag my knee around this. Oh wait. Sounds like he just needs to stick to two wheel videos.

I've been on two wheels for most of my life. But I've moved to an area of unpredictable gusty winds that drive me crazy. Recently, I was in wind that was so bad, I pulled over, and was barely able to keep the bike from blowing over. Life sucked! Would a Ryker completely cure my wind issues?

I know this post is over two years old but I came across it and like so many others on these type bikes I am now thoroughly convinced that it should be a federal law that only someone with a mechanical or automotive engineering degree review these things. Because every Tom, Dick and Susan with a channel rarely know how to be objective consistently wanting to compare the riding dynamics to a two wheel bike when obviously it is not and to make matters worse Can Am 3 wheelers are in a class by themselves so there is nothing to compare them with..atleast for now (I see China has pulled out their typical playbook and has produced prototype 3 wheelers that look eerily like Can Ams. Pro tip: Yes the bike will occasionaly find ruts in the road ESPECIALLY if you are on poorly maintaied ones but don't worry you aren't going to track into the woods and typically the sensation is made worst by desth gripping the handlebars sooo yeah ease up on the grips youget use to it with time.😅😅 On a purely humorous note this chap proudly posted that the bike is a "Automatic CVT transmission". Folks what is a CVT?, now run that line back again unabbreviating "CVT", this is were those degrees I was talking about would come in handy.. 🤣🤣. Take care.😊

I think the rally is a very cool looking bike. But what bugs me is that no one is doing any new videos on the Ryker... There was a bunch of folks doing Ryker videos a year ago or more, but now, they have either moved to a Spyder or they just quit making the Ryker videos. Makes me think they must kind of suck after a while. I wish the Ryker had the power steering and semi-auto transmission.

I have an F3-S. Very sporty. A lot lighter than the full-dress Spyder models. Are you sure the Ryker it doesn't have power steering? My Spyder does. You get used to the cornering. It took me a hundred miles or so before I felt really comfortable. The transmission is CVT. Like a scooter.
Good video.
