Unusual Writing Tips

I love the aspect of casting the characters of your novel and setting it to a sound track! I always do this and it actually helps!

I really appreciate this video. I've fancasted my characters to help me visualize, but I didn't think to get reference photos for different emotions. That's smart!

I'm currently writing a novel, and yeah I agree with you soundtrack helps amazingly, I used songs from an anime called clannad since it has some of the most brilliant piano tracks I've ever heard and it helps me write and execute the mood of the scene. I definitely recommend you guys do this. Anime believe it or not is a great place to get soundtracks, I've used over three.

I write my dreams down because dreams don't have a 'logical' order and can free your imagination. I would have never imagined most of my dreams so I don't pass on such a rich source of story wealth!

I just found you and I'm happy I did - these are great tips! I do the same thing with music except I do custom playlists, and I do the same thing with casting characters with real people except I use fashion and art models instead of actors. I'm very visual too so sometimes I make moodboards for main characters and primary settings.

Absolutely brilliant! These tips are really helpful, and a nice change from the usual, repetitive advice I always receive from other writers :) What I usually do, is I act out the scenes by myself. I do the scene in my room, mumble it to myself through the day or just imagine myself being the character in my head. I always play all characters, so that I can get an idea of what they feel and how they reason. I know it's a little silly, but it works like a charm for me.

A very helpful video. I also tend to use visuals when mapping out my characters and storyline. I especially use personages as muses for my writing....as a novelist it is my raison d'etre to capture beauty in eloquence
