How To Use a Concrete Mixer

In this video I demonstrate the basics for how to mix concrete using a mixer (the one I am using is VERY OLD) as well as how much water should be used to achieve the desired consistency for each batch. It's simple but hopefully will give you a few ideas.

Good video with tips. Got to love those machines that don't die. I usually only mix small partial batches for patchwork by hand. I got one this spring and have not used it yet. Seeing a technique will save some aggravation on the learning curve. Spraying to the back seems like best takeaway along with the diesel fuel spray when finished.

Great tip with the deisel fuel spray. I hadn't heard about that. But I rarely mix cement.

I've always had the machine running when adding your product. I start with dry first, then add water. Saves the motor that way.

Fyi: cement dust forms sulfuric acid in the lungs. A friend develop acute lung disease from one bag job where he wasnt wearing a mask (safety glasses and gloves a must) - stand upwind. Safety first

OSHA too funny in the words of my Dad on a farm at the end of the day you still have all ten fingers and toes...than however you did it to get the job done is OSHA approved..

I just bought a new mixer and read the instruction manual. It stipulated that the mixer must be running before you add the cement mix. Never start mixer with a load already in it. Also water is added incrementally.
Just saying what the instruction manual said.

That particular model will start automatically if you change a $3 capacitor.

It's Concrete not Cement!!! Cement is an ingredient in Concrete!!! It's like calling Cake Flour!!!
