Comics are so weird sometimes when they try to be realistic but become very silly in the process. Barely anyone on the entire planet would be against the government executing them all. They'd be congratulated for doing so.

In real life if any small group of individuals threaten the entire US, the government would take them out without a second thought. The morality or legality of it would be irrelevant.
