David Hockney - one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century - turns 85 in July this year. It's good to know Bath can join in the celebrations as a sumptuous collection of rarely seen drawings by this popular and prolific painter, draughtsman and printmaker goes on display for the summer at the Holburne Museum.
The exhibition is entitled 'David Hockney Love Life Drawings 1963 to 1977'' and is open to the public from this Saturday, May 27th through to September 18th.
I caught up with Director Chris Stephens who, when he was Head of Displays at Tate Britain - curated a Hockney exhibition which became the most visited display of works by a living painter in the history of that museum.
This more modest collection of drawings going on display in Bath is likely to be popular too.
I asked him how he had chosen both the period of Hockney's life covered in the exhibition and where the title 'Love Life - came from.
