When you’re continually told that you live in ‘the best country in the world’ you automatically would think somewhere else is worse. Even when your situation in the States is pretty poor.

We dont feel ahead, we just feel the USA has been standing still the last 15 years

it's actually quite hilarious that Americans ask you if it's safe here in Europe, while it's actually AMERICA that is NOT safe at all!!

@4:48 Dude, that hit hard. I was in the Netherlands for a week in August. My last day, I was sitting next to an American couple who were spending their first day in Amsterdam (btw, greetings from Woodstock, Ga), and the first question the lady asked me was "it is safe here?" smh You did a good job with the explanation, but my take is something like this...I tell my kids (and have to remind myself) how someone reacts to you is more of a reflection of what's going on with them than with you. So maybe that's deal with us Americans. We feel unsafe in our own country so we're projecting that onto others or thinking it must be like that or worse elsewhere.

When we moved to the states I
had to learn how to write a check!!!
That was mind blowing to me. While in the Netherlands everything is internet banking.

Furthermore I think you hit the nail with Americans thinking the rest of the world isn’t safe while living in a country that has mass sh**tings on a daily basis.
Like you’re saying, they are more comfortable in their own fear, than discover how other countries are doing.

Its healthcare, infrastructure, education, social safety net, use of technology. Filing our yearly taxreport online in a pre-filled form. Being able to use 1 card for all types ofpublic transport around the entire country, even for renting bikes. Everything is extremely efficient here, and everything is maintained very well. Small things like being able to walk or cycle everywhere, not needing a car when you cant afford one. Our terras and leisure culture. The partying at night. Feeling generally safe almost everywhere. I love my country.

Yes, you are spot on. The US is in so many ways sooo far behind, but the people don't know it, because they think, the US is the number one country in the world, so why would I look somewhere else?
I was in Paris during the Olympics, and it was amazing. How Paris is mixing the old with the new. Then I was back home and talked to family members. They are all excited about the LA Olympics as they want to be better than the Paris Olympics. I said, "Sorry, this will never happen" and they asked "Why?". I showed them pictures of Paris, of huge train stations, subway stations with 6 different lines, underground shopping centers and the charm of a world city. They couldn't believe it, that you can have a subway that goes every 90 seconds and in so many different directions.
Don't get me wrong, I love LA. However, when it comes to infrastructure, safety and overall quality of live, LA cannot even get close to Paris. The biggest plus for LA is the Ocean and the weather, and I love good weather;-)

Just tell your Asian and black friends in the states, that outside the states, as soon as they start talking, no one sees them as Asian or Black, everyone sees them as American.

Black, white, Asian Americans all see themselves are vastly different from each other. But outside the US they are seen so similar to each other that people can hardly tell a difference.

6:43 So true. I'm Black, and a large part of my family lives in Virginia. When one of my nieces visited us in the Netherlands last year, she was genuinely surprised to see people of diverse backgrounds, including other Black people, here. She mentioned that she thought Black Americans were the only Black people in the West. She was also surprised when we took a day trip to Aachen in Germany and saw how multicultural it was there too. She thought that cause of ww2 she thought no other race would dare to live in Germany. Americans often tend to live in a bit of a bubble, which is understandable given how big the country is.

I am old enough to remember the 70s when people in the Dutch entertainment industry were openly gay and made no secret about it. But they were not allowed into to enter the US because the government considered the country to be gay free. Mid 90s the US changed its laws and finally allowed them to enter the country. And today a lot of Americans are portraying the US as some beacon of light for the gay community. They do not seem to realize they are finally catching up with the rest of the western word, countries like the Netherlands. Nice video, thanks!

In the Netherlands they use a system called ANPR. Camera's scan the traffic and they check the plates against several databases for issues, like tax debt or car stolen or car belongs to someone with revoked driver's licenens or an arrest warrant etc etc . If there is a hut police is dispatched.

I am watching your vid for months. I am always impressed with the transition of scenery and that you keep talking. That takes allot of editing to do it so fluent. Keep up the great work :)

Trajectcontrole. So that just measures your average speed over a given distance. We also have the notorious 'flitspaal', i.e. speed camera. Those replaces the post up and pull over kinda deal If you're going too fast you just get a ticket automatically. We do have unmarked cars driving the roads equipped with cameras and they are looking for excessive things. They won't pull you over for going 5 over the speed limit, but if you're really booking it or over take on the right for instance, then they pull you over and you get a ticket or worse depending on your transgressions.

This is something only travelers notice. At least that’s when I began noticing the divide between the news that you receive in the us and the reality on the ground in these places. Thank you for trying to share with everyone. Hopefully it’s just a hiccup in our step and not a long term thing… Been watching you for years sir, keep up the realness!

I really enjoy your happy, smiling attitude and constant positivity! Keep being you mate! 😎We’ve had “point to point” speed cameras on highways here in Australia for at least 15 years. I’ve been to the US many times and have relatives living there. Americans are told from birth they live in the biggest and most-advanced place in the world and so many I’ve met actually believe it. The US is a great country but seriously we’re talking about a country that has so many problems such a shocking gun violence and governments of all stripes seem unable to fix it. The embarrassing lack of universal health care which Australia had had since 1984 😳 yet the US government spends more per capita on health than Australia does. How does that work? I’ve been to Europe twice but never to The Netherlands. I’m coming there next year and cannot wait! My uncle was a pilot for KLM and has told me so much about how great it is over in NL 😊 Craig - Australia

Your videos make me really appreciate my own country. When I was younger I really wanted to move to America. Now that I have kids and live in the Netherlands, I totally get it...
