Would you like softer towels? - Here I show you how it works!

Do you also have old towels that are no longer so nice and soft? Then I have here the perfect trick for you, how to get your towels soft as never. And all this without fabric softener and without using a dryer.

You will need 50 ml. Vinegar and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. You simply dump these two ingredients into the drum of your washing machine. Then you add all your towels and wash them normally.

That's all you need to do to get your towels really soft again. The two ingredients ensure that the towels become much softer again.

So if you also want to have nice soft towels, then definitely try it out with this trick once with you.

Baking Soda + Vinegar, mixed together renders both chemically inert (as was demonstrated once during a chemistry class I took)....so chemically, can any explain how this combo works?

They also actually absorb water too. Many fabric softeners and dryer sheets coat them and they tend to repel water.

No no no no no……..i learned this trick from my Grandmother before you were even born! LOL! Where you messed this up is, you FIRST wash the towels with WHITE VINEGAR ONLY (, NO detergent or fabric softener! (And NO, Baking Soda does NOT take the color out of Black Towels but a trick for ANYTHING Black or a DARK color is to FIRST, the VERY VERY FIRST TIME you wash it and I save ALL my FIRST TIME BLACK OR DARK DARK ALMOST BLACK ITEMS to be washed together to save on money so if you only have ONE item, you can still do this but do it in the bathroom sink or a pail to “set” the DARK OR BLACK COLORED ITEM, you use a 1/4 cup of SALT, plain table salt, the cheaper the better, nothing fancy like Himalayan Salt just plain table salt with iodine, cheap cheap, and you fill the sink or bucket with cool water and stir in the 1/4 cup of salt until it is dissolved and then add the jeans or clothing equivalent to a pair of jeans- if you were doing a load of dark dark towels and jeans and t-shirts, then I would use about 3/4 cup of salt and if it is a top load washer, let it fill on cool or cold and allow the salt to be completely stirred into the water by the machine and THEN add all of your dark dark dark items and shut off the washer for about 15 min so it can soak- if it is a front load throw everything in and then throw the 3/4 cup of salt and agin set it for cold and let it run on a delicate cycle so it sits in the salt for longer if you have soak as an option first then allow the machine to let the dark items soak in the salt for the allotted amount of time the washer is programmed for or 15 min and then regardless of the type of machine let it finish and rinse and spin and out it comes to do a quick or speed dry for about 15 min then take out the clothes but leave in the towels and let them dry to completion. Salt actually SETS BLACK or DARK DARK colors and keeps them nice and dark looking new for a longer time, I also do not use much soap when washing black items and I NEVER EVER let dark items dry in the sun, THAT is where the color WILL fade! I hope that helps, so next time you have new dark black ANYTHING, grab those towels and throw them in with the new dark items and the salt and maybe some of the black dye will go onto the towels as you will see some of the black in the sink or pail and that is called the finishing color that manufacturers put on dark items so they appear darker when you buy them but it washes off even more if you do not do the Salt Setting) THEN after you have washed the towels in ONLY VINEGAR, and they have completely finished their cycle, do NOT dry them, you wash the entire load AGAIN but THIS time you use ONLY BAKING SODA! NO detergent or softener, JUST Baking Soda and then once that load is complete, you dry them in the dryer but do not use any softener sheets at all the first time. OH……an essential point, BOTH loads are done in HOT water and THIS trick is for TOWELS ONLY. If you have white or light colored towels you can dry them on the line weather permitting, if they are dark, straight into the dryer. Do this Vinegar/Baking Soda trick whenever you feel like your towels are not soaking up the water on you after a shower. I can tell it is time when I put a towel on my head for a couple of minutes and then take the towel off and my hair is still soaking wet! Time to de-yuck them! What the Vinegar does is get the build up of softener and detergent and dryer sheets that all have some form of a light waxy type substance in it unless it is Organic or all natural like Betty’s Detergent or Young Living Detergent which comes in a very small bottle but for a full load you only use 1/2 of a cap full of the laundry soap so it might cost more but you shouldn’t be doing the vinegar and baking soda trick ever!
****I hope the SALT trick works to get your black towels BACK to being BLACK AND SOFT, but that is why this way he is showing does NOT work. If you want to clean your washing machine, go ahead and mix vinegar and baking soda and run a cycle and you will have a clean washer (mix a 1/4 tsp of each and see what it does…it foams up……whoopie doo! It does NADA for clothes or towels (My mom does her bath robe this way (MY WAY) and her robe is fluffy and soft and she doesn’t use a towel as she does not need one!
Good Luck Everyone and I hope that straightened everyone out on how it does work when done properly! Go ahead and google it! Much Love!!❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦

I tried, it didn't work! This method faded my black towels in one wash 😒, I won’t use baking soda for washing towels and color clothes anymore. Plus, the towels stayed the same, they weren’t softer at all than when I wash them with detergent, without fabric softener (though, I use a dryer machine). So, just be careful!

How nice! I never thought of vinegar, but thought baking soda might help! ( : Interestingly we throw the vinegar and baking soda in the tub vs where we add the detergent. Is that to help clean out the inside of the washing machine too?

You have the best tips! Thank you sooouch! ( :

All is fine but let me remind you about one technicality. In many washing machines the sensor positioned somewhere reacts to fluids in the bottom of the machine and even very small amount of liquid may activate it and pump will empty all what was spilled into the drum. But... there is a way around, as always. Here it comes. First, you choose program and start your machine. Only when the water starts flowing in, you put your machine on hold and - if this is possible, open the doors and add vineger directly to the drum. And then you will load the laundry in. If (and some machines are like this) stopping within the program active and running is OK but opening the doors cancells the program, then the vinegar should be added through the tray together with water running down. Simples.

Why don't you just put it in the powder slot...it will go straight into the tube that pumps the water in anyway

Usare aceto e bicarbonato assieme non ha senso, perchè entrambi si annullano.
