If you look around, this happens alot. It's sad, but that's how it is these days. From my experience, it's best to keep your game quiet and relatively hidden, until it's about done, or completely done and start getting the information and hype and adverting out there while you fix up any remaining bugs, glitches, and a bit more polish.

The two games have almost nothing in common, except the hole mechanic, which is not used for the same gameplay mechanic. It's like saying that Megaman is a clone of Mario Bros because there is a character jumping on platforms.

The real problem is that a lot of people will assume that donut County is the rip off seeing as it is being released afterwards.

This has been happening since the beginning of video games. There has always been gaming companies whose entire business model is to clone other peoples games. It happened in the 80's and its happening now. Heck, one year before Ben Esposito started started making his game, i remember there being lot of articles complaining how Zynga was cloning smaller developers games. It sucks, but thats how it is.
