Tbh I think it's more that they both take inspiration from the Legends of King Arthur

Arthur - Luke

Merlin - Obi Wan/ Yoda

Sir Ector - Owen Lars

Leia and Han - Guinevere and Lancelot

Knights of the Round Table - Jedi Council

Uther Pendragon - Darth Vader (both Arthur and Luke are told that their fathers were great men only to discover that they were both terrible people, the only difference is that Uther is actually dead)

Arthur sleeps with Morgause, not knowing they are siblings. Like Luke kissing Leia.

They even draw more inspiration on this for the sequels, where Kylo Ren bares a lot of similarities to Mordred, although his final fate is more similar to that of Sir Galahads. There are also some parallels with Mordreds conception and childhood to that of Lord Voldemorts.

JK Rowling has cited the book "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White as one of her biggest influences on Harry Potter. Merlin is very similar to Dumbledore and as the characters age the story gets darker and more mature.

George Lucas was heavily influenced by Arthurian mythology, real world history, Frank Herbert's Dune and Doctor Who. Yet he is never accused of ripping off any of these, probably because a lot of Star Wars fans think that Lucas invented film and storytelling and anything that even slightly resembles something he made is a "blatent rip off".

I imagine that that they were both probably inspired by aspects of Greek Mythology as well, but I don't have as much knowledge on that as I do Arthurian so I'll let someone else draw any parallels if they exist.

This is because they both use The Hero's Journey (Joseph Campbell) as a boilerplate.

Wow, it's almost like there's some form of writing known as the "Hero's Journey" where both stories take parts of it. It's almost like you can generalize anything if you leave out a bunch of details, sure the entirety of the stories are different, but that doesn't matter because they're both the same

You can't really say it's a direct rip-off. There's too many differences between them, and a lot of books and movies were similar to that back then
