Thanks for your thorough video. Personally this Dyson machine saves my life. I am seriously sensitive to formaldehyde and all petrochemicals plus some pollen allergies and it does the job of filtering everything out out - as you say formaldehyde is ubiquitous in building materials. I have eliminated any furnishings that might contain it but can't change the cupboards in the kitchen or closets. They look good but do contain high levels of formaldehyde - I've had them tested. My apartment is about 650 sq ft with 9 ft ceilings, I run the Dyson 24/7 at speed 7 during the day and 6 at night. Often if I am going out I'll set it on 10 for good measure - in this small apartment 10 is too loud for me when I am here. I replace the air filters twice a year and feel it is well worth it for my health. During high level wild fire smoke it kept me safe. You can save money by buying bulk citric acid for cleaning the humidifier basket - I checked with the engineer at Dyson who assured me that citric acid is all that is in their envelope and that what I get at a bulk store works just the same (and costs far, far less). The best advice I can give to anyone buying this machine is to remember that it is digital and you must follow directions for changing filters and doing the humidifier clean process exactly or you will confuse its brain. My neighbors have the same machine and are not used to digital (they are 84, I am 81 but what can I say about that) and by pressing buttons without following the directions exactly their machine eventually would not function. I reminded them that their warrantee was still in effect and to call Dyson. They did and Dyson sent them a brand new one, no questions asked even though it was obvious to me that my neighbors had messed up the digital operation themselves. In my experience with Dyson they are keen to help, knowledgeable and fast with filling and sending orders. All thumbs up from here. If you are the type who doesn't follow directions and think the next step for dealing with machines is to kick it, don't order this beautiful item. I do vacuum the filter area once a week which probably helps some. I use tap water which contains chlorine and a fair amount of calcium. The machine tells me to run the humidifier clean process every 5 or 6 weeks. Might be less often if I filtered out the calcium with a Brita type pitcher first but so far I haven't - just another gadget to use. I don't run the humidifier aspect during the summer here in central Canada, near the Minnesota border, only in the winter heating season when the air in here is drier. I have heated floors so no circulating air system which perhaps means less dust. I fill the water tank morning and evening to have the humidity level that keeps me and my 4 dozen house plants happy. I highly recommend the Dyson PH04 especially if you have allergies or multiple chemical sensitivities.

Great video review. Had this for over a year. Huge buyers remorse! Does not humidify. Needs constant cleaning. Water pump seems to clog up a lot. Walmart evaporative humidifier does a better job according to separate humidity sensor for a 10th of the cost. Dyson looks good, over engineered and marketed in my opinion. Save your money and look for more affordable and effective options.

You should also mention the pump column failure, I have already seen few having this issue. And Dyson seems can’t have enough as it always seems to be out of stock

THATS CRAZY!!!! Suddenly my humidifier stopped working. 😭 Dyson is sending me a replacement tho. But damn, that happened to me and you’re talking about it. Wild.

wow, look at all that dust floating ! I live in the desert and bought this model today. I have it running and agree that you must really crank it up to feel any air flow. I don't like the air vents. I wish the head unit oscillated like the other models but it's ok.
I also bought the Hot and Cool model -which is a much better product in my opinion. But they are both good. Overall, This is a very good product.

So I bought one today….. when I am setting it to heat, I am unable to run the fan at speed 10. It does ramp up then within a minute or the fan speed drops to what feels like 1 but the screen still displays 10… Feels like a waste of time if it can’t heat a run unless it’s faulty. I had one of these in the UK and it worked perfectly.

Note at 2:40 thats the catalytic filter, not the carbon. The carbon filter is blended within the hepa filter.
