Geez and I bet if parents are too strict about it their kid probably gets less auditions huh? Cause they’re labeled a crazy stage parent

I watched honey boy….. and….. its really eyeopening…. I thought his dad wasn’t an ok human until he took him off set and was angry because they had him there too long. There has to be a better way…..

Now think about all the YouTube and tik tok “family channels” where parents use their own children as on screen talent with no regulations whatsoever. A camera in your face anytime 24/7 and no guarantee of any income saved for you in the future. Especially the families that do “van life” or homeschooling- total control over that child’s location and schooling and the ability to cross state lines with no authorities knowing where you are.

This should be illegal. It should also be illegal for kids to promote their projects. There's no reason an 8 year old needs to do hours of press ontop of the hours they do on set

Thank you so much for providing this information!! Not all laws are just laws, and it’s important to know who’s interest their putting first! Greed often limits the potential of labor laws :( since so many are interested in getting a piece of the pie.

Both should be liable. If you cant advocate for your kid, then dont give them a job as a child.

What do u mean the parents are penalized? You mean they get charged fees when their kids are on set longer than the legally allotted time?

Acting is still the only legal child labor in the US

The government needs to do something about this because it is immoral and unethical for children and families altogether. Thank you for sharing!

Sounds to me like HOLLYWOOD needs to make A LOT OF CHANGES with child labor laws, and this goes for ALL of California as well.

7 hours of work in a single day at 6? That's an adult's full work day in France, where a 35 hour week is full time!

180min per day also (usually) isn't A-G certified. That doesn't matter normally, but that's when kids have a choice.
