TAG HEUER explained in 2 minutes in our latest episode of Short on Time. Start your engines, we're talking about TAG Heuer. The brand was founded by Edouard Heuer around the year 1860 and made a name for itself with its stopwatches and other racing ready instruments. In 1916 the company created the microsplit which could time events to 100th of a second. Then known as Heuer, the brand created what is arguably the first self-winding chronograph movement in 1969 with their caliber 11. Although there is much debate as to whether the Zenith el Primero or the Seiko 6139 was the first automatic chronograph.

Three models the brand is known for: Carrera, Monaco Formula 1. Surely. The Formula 1 is an icon and has been in production for most of the last 36 years. The Autavia is a confused product that only came back a few years ago.

Heuer and Tag Heuer will always be associated with auto racing in my mind. Same way Breitling will always be a pilots watch and Doxa will always be a diver to me.

Have a rolex and a few omega's which i love but my carrera skeleton O2 and carrera porsche X get a lot of wrist time . I wear the skeleton with a suit and it gets a few admiring glances and comments.
