For a second I thought I’d tuned into an episode of Breaking Bad

Pretty decent and accurate description of what's involved. I've been doing similar full time for 6+yrs and am fairly happy with everything... my area covers mostly market towns, villages and some rural spots... I doubt I'd choose to be in this line of employment in a city environment!
Plus points- fresh air and activity, some lovely customers, workload/timeframe generally achievable, varied shifts
Negatives - physically demanding, winter weather and dark evenings, difficult access/difficult customers, varied shifts.

Ive worked for tesco since August last year, its one of the most least stressful jobs ive ever had in my life. 99% of the customers are great. You get good exercise. The vans are sometimes abit dodgy but as long as you do your checks and refuse to drive vans that aren't good its all ok.

Manager's dont care
Team leaders just want you out the door

You have a good crack with the other drivers and once your out your pretty much your own boss.

Best job I've had tbh i love it

I've been with Tesco for 6 weeks now in Swindon, great bunch of experienced drivers, who are so friendly /welcoming, can't fault the training they give, yes finding houses can be tough but as mentioned a good torch makes the job alot easier,

Worked with Tesco for a year doing deliveries. Can be a stressful job but also very rewarding (tips, encounters, challenging roads etc.) always a welcoming place to work, will miss it a lot when I’m gone next week

Been doing this for 2 years now.
Fantastic job 🎉
Deliver a lot up the Lake District, so a lot of out of the way places, especially secluded holiday lets.
I'd highly recommend it to anyone 👌

Greetings from Croydon. I am the Tesco delivery driver for almost 17 years (since June 2006) and I must say I still love it.

Cheers for this. I'm 62 too and figured I best get fit first and be careful with good technique for my dodgy knees and back, You know we have to be more sensible at this age ;-)

I’m more or less housebound so I’m so grateful to my delivery drivers.

Do people ever tip you? I always wonder but I’m never sure. I’ll ask if they want anything to drink and they can use my toilet. Always seem grateful for that as there’s no public toilets round here x

I’ve applied for a few of these jobs with tescos, hoping to get one… around 22 hours a week. Appreciate the video and insight mate thank you very much.

Good video I’ve been doing it 5 years 7 months with Tesco 4 and half with Sainsbury’s can be heavy it’s getting heavier the runs that’s what I have noticed especially with the wine offers running more often and the water that people order! Job is different to what I did before so it does keep you fit

do they maintain their vehicles adequately or are you constantly chasing for repairs? Some of the trucks I see are 'well used'.

I was a driver for ASDA for a few months a couple years ago, I liked the job but they're an awful company to work for, probably the worst out of all the big UK supermarkets so I've heard. Communication between staff was awful, the fleet of vans were poorly maintained, equipment and training was poor and worst of all they would expect you to come in early and work for free... one of the best jobs I've had but by far and away the worst company, sounds like Tesco are better.

I'm now a self employed courier which I love but still think about going back to doing this part time around my other job as I miss the human interaction this job bought sometimes, plus the benefits of staff discount etc.

Good video, seems like the job suits your needs well.

I done the job for 6 months everything you said is true. I definitely got fitter during those 6 months. You lose weight all the time. The tips were good and you meet some really cool people. Obviously some bad ones also but not a lot. I didn’t like the massive drops though I always tried to finish mine as quick as I could. Some days you had smaller drops. But didn’t like the backaches and difficultly with driving in London and parking.

Are you picking the items and loading them into the boxes, or is the van already loaded by the time you get there?

Just out of curiosity. Did you ever drive vans this big before getting a job with Tesco? Thinking about going for it at Sainsburys since I already work there, but I've never driven anything that size. Great video and thanks for a reply.

I normally get between 10 to 15 drops per evening over a average of 65miles, how the heck do you get so few ?
