Vaz - Starts With The Funk/Vaz lite
Operating both as a record label and an online music store Streetwise Records has been responsible for releasing quality breakbeat tunes including Kraymon's "Just Press Play" and Zero's "Emit/Collect" for which the Rennie Pilgrem Agatha Stomp remix won him the Best Remix award at the 2003 Breakspoll awards. Now at release number 13, Streetwise have taken on newcomer Vaz for their funky breaks stylings. According to the website, Vaz must remain anonymous due to legal reasons.

Side A. Starts With The Funk
Starts With The Funk opens up with a funky breakbeat pattern quite similar to the one used on Hedrock Valley Beats' "How Do You Feel" release from 2003. Featuring acid elements feature in the background - a warbling synth line, techy 303 stabs and a rolling bassline give the tune a bit of grunt. To top it off a catchy synth hook and a hip hop vocal sample from which the title spawned from.

Side B. Vaz Lite
On a slower and slightly housier tip is Vaz Lite. It has more of a deep electro feel, deep rumbling sub-bass, tribal percussion and a keyboard hook that gives the tune some funk. During the breakdown, Vaz pulls out an old Parliament style vocal sample before building back up to more electro-induced madness.

Considering the samples being used in this track, it's easy to see why they'd want to remain anonymous, however they've provided a neat little package here for those who love their breaks reeking with electro funk flavours.
