Hikvision outdoor ip camera is not really outdoor device. Mine, the sealant, it could be the glue seal, shrinkage over the time (for only 7 months). The shrinkage sealant is the rainy water ingress and damage to the inside electronic board.

Hikvision updates the hik-connect app to 4211. Upon updating it is very hard to access the camera. What update you have made? 4210 is much better, how can I return to the this version?

As a matter of fact, I have a new Hikvision since a months ago and I still haven't been able to set it up properly, it comes with no manual, no service and everything you want to know is online. WTF really?

For such an expensive unit, you'd think you would get a better service. Sadly, now that I bought it, and I am not happy with it, I found out that the entire NVR and camera is non returnable (another nail in the coffin). But there is always the old saying when it comes to customer dissatisfaction, Not Recommended. It's rubbish.

And right at this very moment, the MP4 video is no longer playable on Windows Media Player (another kick in the guts). Since I purchased it I've always played back the MP4 video on WMP up until 4 days ago. Now it doesn't play the latest recorded files.

I am not going to blame WMP because it still plays previous MP4 video from the NVR but doesn't play the 7 clips I stored for future reference. I have even contacted Microsoft Help Desk/Support to have the WMP checked. They said that they believe there nothing wrong with it, since it plays all other MP4 files.

I have other media player and those too do not accept playing any newer MP4 files saved from the Hikvision NVR.

So, obviously, it's the NVR or it is the cameras. Either way I am left with no other Player choice.

Today, I contacted the Hikvision Online Help and they suggested that I download another media player called VSPlayer. That hardly changed anything it plays the same MP4 files from the NVR recorded that WMP, VLC, Classic Player or MPC-HC, etc., were able to play, but not the latest 7 recently recorder file that I have saved in the last 4 days.

And the funny thing is that, this VSPlayer acts different to the others.

While all other players simply not play these 7 files by showing nothing on screen, the WMP has a pop up saying that ' WMP has encountered a problem while playing the file', this VSPlayer, when dropping the file in the player window, or open an MP4 file, a pop up appears with a field, asking to write in the field the file password. Quite unusual for a file to have a password since I never have given a video files a password.

So, the entire problem with not being able to play MP4 files from this NVR is not from the players themselves but from the shitty Chinese junk that now I am stuck with, an expensive $4K junk that doesn't do what I was told it does. So, what can I say now?
