Just an FYI, the reason muscle cars sounded like that is the "Hi Po" cam designs of the day had long duration lobes...meaning the valves stayed open a "long time", whereas in more modern day "Hi Po" cam designs it was learned you didn't need to have long duration, you just needed higher lift...there are obviously other technical subtleties to modern cam design but that is the condensed version. Ford and other cam manufacturers started offering these "new" designs with longer duration because as this young man states, he wanted that muscle car sound.

Nothing in my humble opinion beats the sound of big cams...I also love it when people who are not into to cars, hear the big cam sound and swear the car is missing or not running right.

I'm just like you! I love that deep rumble of the Classic Muscle Cars. Back in the day Glass Paks were often used on the exhaust just to achieve that "sound". Nice video. 😎

GREAT video.. before/after sound and driving. nice addition of the Ford graphical video of how a cam works, and even an explanation by a mechanic of the valve height and duration changes with the new cam. Thanks for sharing.. your GT sounds bad-ass!

I have a 2007 GT/CS I just got in January, and I have put on the headers and pipes, Ford Performance CAI and 62 MM Fuel Throttle Body. Like you, I drive my car daily, haven't raced it, I just want that sound I had when I did street race years ago. FedEx delivered my Hot Rod Cams today and if all goes well, I will have them in my car, before they have my tune ready and sent to me. Nothing like that sound and that little shake when at a stop sign or a red light. Car sound good thanks for sharing.

You can hear the difference even when it starts up, sounds rougher, more brutal. I wish Ford developed Hot Rod cams for the Coyote as well.
