My Mum moved to Boston thirty years ago, The reason for Eastern Europeans going to that area to work in agriculture was because the farmers and growers could NOT get enough local people to do the work at all. Never mind the hours.
Let us be blunt about it. The locals voted for Brexit out of nothing more complicated than racism and xenophobia. Plain and simple.

I used to work in Lincolnshire. I have never, ever forgotten driving in to work in spring at 7am in freezing rain past the foreign workers picking cauliflowers. Poor guys were blue with cold and soaked through. Absolutely no local people would do this work. It's punishing.
