Qi La La Wing Chun vs Heavier Muay Thai Champion

Qi La La, our Taiwanese Wing Chun pressure tester had a weekend of matches against other kickboxers. This was the last of his matches against Zheng Zhen Hao. Zheng Z. Hao is a two-time Muay Thai champion. Qi La La was not able to find an opponent his own weight class (62 kg), so he went up to 67 kg to fight Z.Z. Hao. Let's see how Qi La La 奇拉拉 did and what lessons he could learn from this match. Let us know if you agree with the assessment that some of his flourishes are not doing anything but wasting energy, and let us know if you think Qi La La should be a little careful with how much he's exerting his body. He's really putting a lot of strain. We all support him and love what he's doing, but it is the honest feedback of Fight Commentary Breakdowns for him to be more careful in what matches he takes.

Finally a wing chun man adapting his art to the situation!.

Great! What a bonus. Best way to spend my Saturday afternoon!

I'd say 35% wing chun. He uses the deflections a lot instead of covering up. He's adapted a little wing chun to work for him in these settings

Nice block with the bong sau 2:30...nothing spectacular but good use of WChuns primary movement.

Muay Thai guy won't teep because Qi LaLa will angle inside, catch his thigh, and do one of those hard punchy Kung Fu throws

Nice to see an organisation say well if we’re gonna cover the hands let’s cover the elbows, shins and feet too.

Just like I said, whatever martiar arts you're in, you need practice and sparring to sharpen it.

Fighting with hands low works for super athletic individuals like Roy Jones Jr.- but, it catches up with ya as your reflexes linger as you age.

Kungfu is hard to learn but more hard to apply in real life and if you do so then this world is yours

Qi La La needs more stamina training.
I like his style and in terms of technique, I give my points to him.

I always say it's the fighter not the art, obviously a good fighter

Proof it is not the art it is the training. You see aspects of the chun... No real angles, nice straight frontal attack. Nice job.

This fight had no other connection to Wing Chun, than the title..

I agree, he was probably tired from the night before. There's no way to fully recover in that time period and even though Qi la la is obviously well conditioned. Qi la la has the heart of a lion
