I there from a fellow PNWer....I have one of those photo boxes you have (little different style but same pupose) I was saving for a photo project. Now I saw your great tip I will repurpose for my seeds until I make it to the photo organization project!! Thank you for the info. I have been saving seeds for the last few years but still learning the techniques for different plants. 😊

O: Didn't know the seeds that weren't ready were more tougher to pull out + green. Good to know!

The preview was really cute. Hi there I'm from Pacific Northwest the. I started my backyard garden last year. Picked out the half a dozen items as fillers all perennials.

I collect my seeds every year. I just take the heads and put them in a vase in my greenhouse for a couple of weeks to finish drying when we’re were having such a rainy to the end of our season. I was afraid of them going moldy. Is this a real problem in wet areas?

Thanks guys from Vancouver BC (Z8a). Thankfully I checked with you before I cut the heads. Good to see what's too early and what isn't. You mentioned Pacific Time. Where are you?

Hello
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Which are the seeds in your pot, the little white or the little black items?

Great information! I was wondering about how to tell when the coneflower seeds are ready. This answered my questions. Last year, I pulled seeds from my echinaceas and scattered them around, thinking some might grow. Not one grew by itself. So I'll be looking for vlogs on how to start coneflowers from seed.

My cone flowers don't turn dark until after the snow falls. So they freeze. Is that too late to save them for seeds? TY

Do you pick the flower stems with heads while they are still green for wait until they start drying up on the plant?

I'm so confused...I have always been told to let the flower mature and wilt back (turn brown) on the plant to get viable seed. This is what I have always done. This year I am seeing videos saying to cut off the flower in its prime, let it dehydrate for a few weeks, then collect the seed. Wouldn't that leave you with immature seed???

You guys are awesome thank you! When can the seeds be planted? Any time during the season like spring summer fall ? As long as it’s before freezing or is there a special time ? I’m from Minnesota - zone 4 . And also, is there an expiration date on the seeds? If I’ve decided to hold off until planting them until the next season, is that OK? Thanks again.

Thank you guys. I was wondering how to harvest seeds. I don't have any coneflowers in my garden. I hope to get some seeds from someone else.

So I can wait until mine dry up to get seeds? I don't see the tiny seeds on mine, I have the long prickly part with white ends... Is that the seeds?

Totally off from the video topic but I have a question? I'm growing pumpkins and I would like to plant flowers next to them...(AUGUST CONTEST QUESTION)
WHAT FLOWERS CAN I GROW WITH PUMPKINS TO USE AS A PEST GAURD?

...and what other vegetables can be grown with flowers, where the flower is protecting the fruit/vegetables?

Thank you, and I hope Allison is feeling better 🙏...happy gardening

Thanks. I'm going to try this. I have tried it with Gerber daisy and nothing sprouted. I probably need to let them dry out more 🌼
