UK Election 2019: House of Commons elects new Speaker - BBC News

The House of Commons has elected Sir Lindsay Hoyle as its new Speaker, succeeding John Bercow, a few days before the official election campaign gets under way on Wednesday. Sir Lindsay - originally a Labour MP - was formerly deputy Speaker and he secured a significant majority in the final round of voting. The Speaker's role has been crucial in recent years -- as the UK Parliament has struggled to deal with the Brexit crisis.

Meanwhile, doctors and health service leaders in England have warned party leaders against using the NHS as a 'political weapon' during the general election campaign and we tell you more on how political parties have stepped up their campaigns on social media in recent days.

I think there should be in the forefront, "The Hopson Report" which is posted every time a politician makes statements/claims regarding the NHS to clarify or debunk the claims. It should be rebroadcast throughout the day and have a weekly report to sum it up.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle, after having been dragged to the fore; admirably addressed the House to gently and tearfully acknowledge his daughter's memory with heart and love. Later Sir Hoyle sported an apropos pair of "Cheshire Cat" socks at home for the camera. Sir Hoyle's choice of home attire accessories venturing into the realm of the everyday fantastic as explored by author Lewis Carroll seems to be warranted. One notices this point more so, given the complexity of the ever looming Brexit political issue that demands a high level of attention to correctly assess the difference between what preserves the UK and the EU to best effect in the real world and what does not. Sir Lindsay Hoyle has a forthwith graceful, yet wry sense of humor. Such humor is much needed to bring this trying situation to a proper sense of equitable resolution. Thank-you, Sir.
