There was also one funny anomaly when a shipwreck could be generated not on land, not underwater, but ON WATER, and it looked kinda cursed.

Back when there was bedrock fog, it was much more common to find holes in the bedrock. It was difficult to see where the holes were, and often could be in places you wouldn't expect. If you saw one you had to plug it with obsidian quickly to stop the void getting in, and falling through was dangerous.

Here's a fun fact about the gray snowy grass block: all grass blocks actually use that texture. It simply is recolored depending on the biome it's found in, so the base texture is gray so it will be easier to recolor. After all, it's easier to write in a white sheet of paper rather than a colored one, right?

Honestly i wish the white grass becomes the standard for snowy biomes, its weird seeing all those out of prace green points in snowy biomes and it would truly feel snowy if it was all white, maybe make it go back to nornal grass when near a torch or smt and stay white naturally

I have a "ghost village" in one of my survival worlds. It generated on top of a mountain that has large caves underneath, so the roads are on the surface but the buildings are underground. Maybe that's what happened with the other ones people have found, too?
Edit: i almost forgot that in another one of my survival worlds, there was a mineshaft that dug through the first few layers of bedrock. This was before caves&cliffs, so the bedrock wasn't as deep down as it is now.

My personal favourite anomalous seeds are the repeating seeds. Repeating seeds are rare occurrences that cause the game to spawn the same generation over and over resulting in infinite repeating caves, mineshafts, trees, end islands, ravines, and other funky stuff

I remember years ago you could see the rare snow blocks before the snow generated on top of them on 2b2t when generating new chunks.

When it comes to the ghost villages, a buried well would explain the phenomena. Basically, villages are generated out from the town center(pretty much all are wells) using jigsaw blocks, which generate random structures from each new segment, depending on the seed. If all 4-5 jigsaw blocks fail to create a structure due to running into terrain, nothing will generate.

After first 3 anomalies I thought I already know everything about the game, but the 4th just blew my mind, as a speedrunenr I played tens of thousands worlds and I never saw a spawn further than 400, the thing that you can spawn in the stronghold ring is incredible

enjoying this series a lot! i like your approach to the anomalies, feels like a nice balance between appreciating their strangeness without heavy overexaggeration to make them seem scarier than they are lol.

2:56 lol that's my post on Reddit haha what a coincidence! I randomly got this video recommended and watched it and then saw my username! Never knew I had found something "rare" in Minecraft lol

I just noticed that when you loaded the seed for Anomaly Four, you actually spawned further out than the finder's spawn.

As for how you can wind up farther out than 1500 or -1500 on X or Z, I speculate that the contingency for if a block within 500 of 0 on both X & Z axes gets chosen but isn't a valid spot, the chosen spot gets treated as the origin of the new search.

This means that the furthest one can be from 0, 0 on X and Z axes is....

Approximately 2, 828.4271247461900976033774484194 blocks away (Pythagoras strikes again!), with the absolute value of each coordinate being 2, 000 (i.e., actual value is either 2, 000 or -2, 000 for both X and Z coordinates).

The only way to get further than that is an extreme Y coordinate, in which case you must take Y=0 into account.

Regardless, the odds are....

Let's see.... 1 in 1, 002, 001 for any given block for the initial generation.... Quadruple that for both the X and Z coordinates having an absolute value of 500.... Assume 50% odds of invalid spawn location (being insanely generous).... Net odds of 2 in 1, 002, 001 for contingency spawn selection.... The contingency has 1 in 9, 006, 001 for any given block in range, and thus, to choose one with both X and Z coordinates having the greatest possible absolute value.... Assuming 50% odds of chosen block's spawn location validity = True.... (2/1, 002, 001)*(1/18, 012, 002)....

The odds are 1 in 55, 518, 537, 028, 810, 012, 346, 212, 264, 466, 771.

This is over 1 in 55.5 NONILLION!

3:51 tha ghost village, my hypothesis is that the village attempted to spawn at the lowest block where it decides to generate, but some problem happened and it placed the paths above ground and was able to place the wel anderground but was unable to find suitable locations for further structure placement

I remember when I played Bedrock Edition ages ago, I encountered an abandoned village that had zombies with completely glitched speed values. I was on a fresh seed in like 1.13 on Xbox.
But it scared the ever-living crap out of me lmao
I'm pretty sure this bug has been forgotten to time, I've never seen anyone talk about it.

A few years ago, I believe I was playing with my brother on a pre-release 1.16 version, but I was exploring a desert and found a few blocks of smooth sandstone and 1 or 2 blocks of terracotta. It seemed a village tried to spawn but failed. I think I took a screenshot but lost it and I lost the location of the village. I really don't know how rare this is but it would be interesting to know. Great vid btw ;)

It’s funny I used to see the rare snow all the time on Pocket due to snow generating over lakes and I saw it happen every once in a while in Java so I figured it was just a normal quirk of minecraft

Ah void holes. Classic. Looked into the abyss once and was never the same, I can still hear them now
