Robocop came put nearly a decade before Stallones Dredd. So there was no threat from being mistaken or similar to each other.
That mock up of a Robo-Dredd may well have been a fake or the Mechanismo storyline.

Watching this film in 3D in the cinema was an amazing experience, though I do remember them having 2D showing so that's wrong though like all films at the time if they were in 3D they were the majority showings.
The 3D was so good I bought the 3D version on Blu-ray.

I don’t hate Sylvester Stallone’s version of Judge Dredd, but Karl Urban’s version at least remembered to not show his uncovered face in the film, since the character never showed his face in the comics, apparently.
