JUDGE DREDD Facts You Didn't Know! #shorts

Did you know of Sylvester Stallone's demands in Judge Dredd? Director Danny Cannon swore to never again work with another "self-absorbed actor", as that was his opinion of Stallone. Apparently, Stallone demanded so many changes to the script, that the final output was entirely different from the original script. Stallone shared in interviews later that he thought the film was supposed to be a comedy action film rather than the darker, more satirical approach, that the director intended. This led to many difficulties and constant creative disputes between the two of them behind the scenes. #shorts #judgedredd #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #sylvesterstallone

The good thing is, we have Carl Urban. He understood Dredd.

Yeah Dredd never takes off the Helmet, in the comics its the old saying Justice is blind. Also in the comic it had Cesnor bars.

This movie was a little corny, but the remake called Dredd was pretty damn good

Stallone wanted to keep the helmet on, but the studios said "We're paying for Stallone - we wanna SEE Stallone".

And that it what happens, when Actors don’t know Source Material.

Dredd 95 was less a Dredd movie and more a Stallone movie.

Unlike Stallone (in which I liked better in Demolition Man), the other portrayer Karl Urban actually embodied the character a lot better.

For the 1995 version, I would rather the role of Judge Joseph Dredd go to Sean Bean instead.

I hired a guy to mow lawns for my landscaping business. He decided he thought it was more a candle making business and started melting wax on the was fired.

Stoalone’s input here will always be his greatest work

That explains it a bit. It did feel like a gap between the cinematography and whatever was being said by the actors.

I love Stallone's version too! One of the funniest action movies ever made

I think Stalone is less like this now a days meaning if we get a Judge Dredd sequel he’ll probably be more acceptable to embody the character better.

Idk, I think the Karl urban one was a good dark adaptation. Sylvester’s was perfect 90s cheese. I love them both.

The '95 Judge Dredd was utter pants, but it does have some redeeming qualities that make it a genuine guilty pleasure.

The production design is still some of the best visual work that captured the look of the comics at the time. No small wonder as some of 2000ad's own artists contributed to the design. For example, the ABC Warrior/Hammerstein and Mean Machine Angel were straight interpretations of Colin MacNeil and Simon Bisley's art work.

While the 2012 Dredd is the far superior film, its depiction of Mega City One is of a retro, brutalist, soulless dystopia. The opening flyover in '95's Dredd is more the over-the-top futuristic, claustrophobic urban jungle the comics depicted.

Alan Silvestri's bombastic score is just awesome, with Dredd's march a great, blood thumping macho hero entrance. And if you listen carefully, you can hear little cues and theme's Silvestri reuses later in Captain America: The First Avenger. And if your a fan of movie scores, there was a short theme that Jerry Goldsmith composed exclusively for the film's theatrical trailer that is absolutely fantastic.

If you ignore the entire rest of the movie (and Rob Schneider), the opening Block War sequence is pure, undistilled Judge Dredd. They really captured the look and feel of a Brian Bolland or Ron Smith centerfold from 2000ad's 80s golden age and got it on screen. The movie is totally worth it just for that alone. That's why I can't totally hate on it.

Stallone did a great a job here, to be honest. Because of his acting this film became classic
