Adelaide was consistently competitive and in finals contention for decades before this latest era. Even counting the post-2017 GF meltdown and 2020 being a write-off, there's no excuse for missing finals for 7 years. Our top players are elite, but the quality of the squad drops off fast. Hate to say it, but look at Port and how they have successfully recruited good players to fill important roles - they can plug the gaps and still win when injuries hit. We could have 2 x Dawson and 2 x Rankine and still not be a genuine chance to make the 8 again. Yes, one of the youngest lists, and along with Collingwood played the most top 8 sides this year (thanks AFL for the fair draw :D). Good group of young players coming through (Michalanney, Curtin, Worrell, Bond etc) but probably 2-3 years away still.... Big Positive: Thilthorpe is/will be a beast barring injuries. It's not all on Nicks, but agree that he'll need to do something drastic to keep his job. Also needs an experienced top tier assistant coach (James Rahilly was a big loss).

Bombers were horrible vs key forwards before Mackay and now they aren't. Give him a break. If you look at statistics there was a lot of improvement in the list plus the introduction of caddy and Roberts who are both great. The list age will drop when older blokes like Goldstein, parish, Stringer, kelly, laverde ect leave in a couple of years and we have some great talent coming through. I'm very excited about Durham, Caldwell, Roberts, Hayes, caddy, kako, Hobbs, tsatas, perkins (not in mid), duursma, Martin, menzie( sort of), cox (maybe not lol), Reid, Bryan, el-hawli and Jones. All under 25 and all
