You're still helping folks, even years later. I didn't even have to adjust anything...just pressed both switches several times. Whatever it was freed up inside the switch and everything works like a charm now. Thanks so much!!!

Thanks mate...you saved me from wasting money having an auto electrician look at my cruise control system which just suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago. Had a look above the brake pedal and sure was gone. Replaced it temporarily with a self adhesive felt pad that you put on the bottom of chair legs to protect wooden floor. I owe you a cold one when I see you next. PS I drove about 16 hours two weeks ago and wondered why the muscles around my knee started to ache after a few hours. Now I know - not used to controlling the accelerator pedal on the highway over long distances. Who knew?

Thanks a ton for this video. I recently started a long distance trip and my cruise control wouldn't work. I pulled over and looked up this video on my phone. Used a leatherman to loosen the lock nut on the clutch limit switch and screwed it out so the switch would engage when the pedal was released. Tightened up the lock nut and hit the road again. The cruise control now works like a charm!

Anyone else notice, once the bolt is in place, it does not resemble the first part of the video prior to adding the bolt, the switch is blue in the first segment, and after it appears to have changed to a brown in color. I think a revamped version of this is a good idea, very difficult for someone who knows the layout to follow, nevermind someone who has no idea

I would have never found this without you. THANK YOU so much!!!

THANK YOU for this insight! Superglued (JB-Weld Super Weld) two pennies together, then super-glued that to the metal bracket vacated by the missing rubber pad. Success. Saved me $$$.

I tie wrapped one of those sticky, felt pads - bumper & anti-scratch things as an easy, quick fix and that worked for me. This is certainly more permanent though.

Thank you so much. This is exactly why it wasn't setting. I have a manual 95 Civic and the clutch pedal was missing a bolt that pushes the sensor, so I got some super glue and a penny and put it on there and it works! Literally only cost me a penny. Thanks

2009 Yukon. After many videos I finally found my main ground strap degraded ( green). Attached back of the block drivers side and to the body next to the master cylinder. Making this a new strap fixed 4 gremlins including my cruise control engaging intermittently mostly not at all.

On a Buick LeSabre... If you push the 'Cruise Control' button and nothing happens (no amber light on in the on/off button) the easiest and therefore the FIRST thing to check is the #14 fuse in the fuse-box under the hood. If that is not the problem, the SECOND thing is check fuses under the steering column. (Under the steering wheel, about where your left knee is when driving). Remove the plastic cover panel (it just pulls off), then remove the steel plate that is under that panel (just four 10mm screws). There is a small black rectangular plastic box with wires sticking out of it. Open the box and you will find three 2 AMP fuses. Check these for a burn-out. They control the lights/function of the buttons on your steering wheel. AND they are not mentioned in the owners manual. This job takes about 10 minutes to do, and it will save you hours or even days of frustration. (I just fixed my own 2004 Buick Lesabre this way; and also fixed a friends 2001 Lesabre this way; so I'm guessing they all have these 2 amp fuses under the steering column).

Two things: it would help if you'd use something to point out EXACTLY where that spacer is supposed to be, it goes by kinda fast. Also, the '99 Ford Explorer I'm looking at doesn't look the same at all (the components at the top of the brake pedal arm).

All good points and good tips I just wish that you had photographed the fuse box and Associated which fuse was related to the cruise also

It figures I'm driving down the road and my cruise. Control stops all of a sudden like I stepped on the break. I look up some videos and as soon as I find this video My cruise control is working fine now. 😂

THAT'S what that damned little rubber thing was!!! LMAO!!
It wasn't on the floor board before I removed and replaced the defective brake light switch.
And since I seen no logical reason for a rubber washer, it was thrown out with the old switch.
Here I thought replacing the switch broke the cruise. lol

Thank you for this video!! Just saved me $35 for a new cruise release switch.

Found a definitive correlation of brake pedal position and cruise control malfunction / failure on my 2014 Chevrolet Traverse.
Non operative cruise control temporarily regains functionality while driving after I use the top of  my left foot underneath the break pedal.
I lift it upward and towards me, there seems to be 2mm or less of play (slack).  When I maintain this slight lifting tension I can sucesfuly engage cruise control, however, the moment I allow the brake pedal to rest without my foot lifting it, cruise control disengages.
