Sure, but if I was an admissions officer, I would certainly think that accomplishments are the best way to prove your passions. There’s a reason for that old saying, "actions speak louder than words." I don’t mean to disparage the applicant here. Perhaps she may have had extenuating circumstances. However, it does seem a bit insulting to those who busted their butt off with a top GPA and great EC’s and didn’t get in merely because they didn’t discover the "secret formula" to writing essays/supplements. I would certainly expect far better future potential from the person with the two former than the person with just the latter.

True but 3.0 and No extracurriculars??? The only thing that would be pushing her in is 1st: Rec letters (Which are prob not that good considering her gpa) and 2: Essay (Still not enough). This is probably fake because by saying they care about passion for than accomplishments, where are extracurriculars to show the passion? Only other way is in the Essay (But even then they would be scratching their heads on if she has this passion, why is there no extracurriculars). Only actually good reason of why there is no extracurriculars is probably either family or medical problems. It's 2024 the excuse of "having no extracurriculars" is just dead.
