As someone who does alot of offroading, side by sides are generally more expensive, harder to repair, and the more expensive ones have so much torque that they destroy trails, you made a good choice

I have a side by side but it's a smaller one, only cost 2.5k it's a trailmaster 300 xrx, does 46 mph and has a Yamaha 276cc moped engine in it, it's cheaper than most name brand ATVs

Great choice! You made a great decision brother! I have a side by side but I miss my fourwheeler alot. Much more control and can go more places since it's not so dang big. You can also have better visuals around your machine to travel better. Plus Minion is happy.

On the dog carrier straps. Maybe a traditional car seatbelt with buckle setup. nice wide strap, and easy to operate. Wouldn’t want the ratcheting mechanism, just the belt & latch setup.

As long as you are careful and know what you are doing (which I am pretty damn sure you do) a atv is a lot more versatile :)
