I love cheesey villain songs. I especially loved how goofy-yet-nasty the villains were in this movie. I love goofy villains, 'cause they always get a hilarious retrobution for their evil deeds.
When Pete's dragon torched the "bill of sale" at the end that was definately the ultimate "middle-finger" to the Gogans.

I love that this song is about a receipt.

Hearing Pa harmonize a few notes higher than the rest of the family for the first time was quite a revelation to me. Impressive.

I love how Nora violently defends Pete. Talk about a 'Mama Bear'. ^^

Shame that despite having two Oscars, a Tony, an Emmy, and god knows how many award nominations, along with close to 100 film credits, she'll only be remembered for four things; 1) sharing a swimsuit with then-roommate Marilyn Monroe when MM first started out in Hollywood, 2) her assorted, often bizarre,  appearances on the Late Night circuit, 3) playing Roseanne Barr's grandma on the show of the same name and 4) playing the witch-like hag leader of the Gogan clan in 'Pete's Dragon' .... but she gives it her all anyway - gotta love her haha

And yet, Charles Tyner, who played the Gogan father, is still with us at 88.

Apart from The World's greatest criminal mind from Basil The Great Mouse Detective and Every Little Piece from this same movie, this is the best Disney villain song!

Dear Helen Reddy, Please give me your stunning voice or amazing acting skills? I'll settle for either?

This song is the relationship between Disney and fans over Star Wars in a nutshell.

Nora's last line "I'll protect as long as I'm alive." wasn't in the movie was it? I don't remember that bit.

Disney's had plenty of WHUDDAH moments, but this is one that just dawned on

PETE'S DRAGON is an old favorite; it's not perfect, but I remember enjoying it plenty (and I still do whenever I rewatch it).

while SONG OF THE SOUTH will never (NEVER) end up on DVD, Blu-Ray or
somehow PETE'S DRAGON has a literal song on "Slavery".

(honestly not a real "reach" there; they're literally saying stuff you'd say about a runaway slave)
