🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.

At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

As someone who lives in central Florida AND works outdoors year round (for over 30 years now), I can tell you that you are spot on. I got my vit D level tested for the first time just a few years ago, and it was at only 36! And I was already supplementing with vit D at the time, about 2 or 3000 IU per day. I bumped it up to 8000 IU of vit D3 per day, and just recently, over 2 years later, I got it tested again, and my vit D level was up to only 47! Still below the ideal range.

I was told a number of years ago that I tested low and should take a daily supplement. The doctor said everyone in our area tends to run low, especially during the winter, so i figured the levels would go back up in a few weeks when nicer weather returned. I was never told how low or what value for a supplement I should take. I just received my last results and was almost immediately notified from my doctor's office that I needed to start taking a supplement: NOW! ....and at what value(s). After reviewing previous tests I see I was at about 14 for years now.
I'm also glad I've started reviewing this data myself and researching the results at reliable online providers; it's helped me to ask important questions and understand better what my doctor is telling me. I'm also thankful for the physician I currently have as they seem to stay on top of those findings when they come in and notifies me quickly if there's a concern I need to be made aware of.

I had been taking 10, 000 IU per day for 6 months. I just got my blood test and my level was 95. Time to pull back a bit.

I've been thinking vitamin D3, vitamin C, zinc, Vitamin K MK-7, along with other supplements. I haven't been sick since I can remember. And, I have a wife in the school system and 2 teenagers in the house. I'm finally convincing my wife to explore using these supplements for immune support

I hear offsetting D3 with K2-M7 work good together. Is there any truth to that? From what I gathered is that D3 helps the body with calcium, but too much can cause calcium deposits in soft tissues such as arteries. I hear that K2 directs that calcium to the bones and joints, and can help clear out arteries.

Thanks for the information on Vitamin D.
(By the way you got a crooked picture beyond you - it's throwing off my balance)

Excellent honest video. I always tell my friends take 5000iu daily then get tested. There was one study over 9 years 7000 patients in Minnesota. One person developed hypercalcemia taking 40, 000iu per day plus a calcium supplement. Don't take calcium with D . With regard to deaths from D I hear about them but can't find data and causes. Vitamin D is not toxic however it can create a hypercalcemia situation. But if you stop taking very high doses it goes away. The upper limit was arbitrarily established when people had problems above 200ng so they divided in half. If you need more than 10, 000iu you have other problems either autoimmune or absorption issues.

Doc ( or anyone else)...when you say the ideal range is 60-90 I'm assuming that is nmol/l is that correct because over here in the UK we have different levels?

Vitamin D or vitamin D3, which one are you talking about?

If you look at the Vitamin D levels of healthy centenarians you will find they have lived well on levels of 15-30 ng/mL so what does that tell you? Too much Vitamin D is bad news for your arteries.
