Helpful review, as usual, but the Topping D30 Pro/A30 Pro combo is not "a little bit more". It's $750 versus $480. That's a $270 difference, enough for a respectable pair of headphones.

IDK, the title makes it seems like the XA-10 has some huge downside even though it compares well to a sperate dac/amp combo 1.54x its price.

The problem with this review is that the logic of Joshua is very faulty. D30 Pro+A30 Pro from Topping is not in the same ballpark of Xduoo Xa 10 when it comes to price. It is 750$ vs 480$ and the 270$ difference is not minuscule. Secondly, the Topping combo according to Joshua is only around 5% better than the Xduoo Xa 10. An all in one device that reaches 95% close to the sound quality of a mid-fi stack (D30 Pro+A30 Pro) that costs more than 150% of the all in one's cost is no small achievement.

Then, there is the issue of measurements. Even according to ASR, who is the king of measurements, a lot of measurement differences may not really contribute to any audible differences....

In fact, I have interacted with an individual who vastly preferred the sound signature of the Xduoo over the D30 Pro+ A30 Pro when it came to a Hifiman planar like Arya.

Xduoo MT-602 and MT-604 are *wonderful* performing headphone amps. They are tube hybrid units single ended and balanced respectively. $99 and $169 respectively.

🌟This is an underrated gem. Has some issues. But, it has a class A stage. Has great Bluetooth via headphones. Aux out is not great, it's ok, imo, so headphones only. Sound is dynamic and musical. Bass has kick. Listening to some music, sound comes from all directions, like a fireworks display. Almost tube like. It can be found on sale. I own other topping and smsl amps. I mostly use with akg 712pro which is a good pairing. Make sure firmware is latest version.

Coming from a Fiio K5pro that I was very impressed with I was fascinated by the look and excellent reviews of Xduoo amps. I took the plunge and went straight to the top and got the TA-30. I use it to power my HD800s and HD6XX. I can say without a doubt Xudoo makes excellent sounding dac/amp combos. I would love to hear some of their entry models.

I actually own the XDuuo XA-10 and decided to place it on my nightstand next to my bed ... with my Focal Celestees hanging next to it. Since the Celestees are closed-back, this is a great setup for me to listen to while on my bed so as to not disturb my wife.
This combination is superb! The DAC sounds great and the amplifier has tons of power. With my Celestees ... music is so engaging and enveloping. Such a great, convenient setup that sounds great!

I thought about buying XA-10 as a replacement for my FiiO K5 Pro after the digital circuits died on me, but first opted for the Topping E30/L30 stack (due to limited space) and then the A50s/D50s stack, which actually fits neatly in the same space.

However, I agree with you when you wish that manufacturers would make all-in-one devices instead of these stacks which need two separate power supplies. (And as an aside, Topping does this weird thing with an AC adaptor for the amp, but USB power for the DAC.)

Josh…what’s happened to you? You should know better than to regurgitate measurements as a basis for “sound quality”. And why don’t you guys ever investigate power output claims? The XA10 and all of the Topping /SMSL stuff measures LOWER power than what they claim. You’re literally telling people to spend more money on gear that doesn’t even live up to the reason you’re telling them to spend the extra cash. And, I’m so disappointed in you, DMS, and all the rest constantly making conclusions without doing A/B/X tests, without telling us exactly what you did and how you did it, and without delving into comparisons. I loved your older content but you’ve clearly made a choice to get viewer clicks instead of deep, factual treatment of gear. I suppose when you’re making enough money, you can compromise on content. Too bad.
