Just a sub for #SLS which was a lazy pick but it is stock and the hunt for the elusive Gainsborough serrated key pin.

Actually, Paul, it does matter which way the locks are oriented. A few years ago, I replaced the Austral lock assembly on my rear screen door with a Gainsborough. The Austral was some old cast zinc crap. The Gainsborough is better material but I've recently noticed that it's developing mechanical issues with the key. The reason why is that the bible is oriented down instead of up. And the screen door is exposed to the elements. So each time it rains, there's a risk that water will get it and work it's way into the bible. With nowhere for it to go after that, it will stick around and cause springs to rust. The Austral was oriented with the bible up. The zinc core on it still got rusty once the black paint wore off.

Nice work. I usually cut mine with a cheap Lishi key cutter and fine tune with aluminum oxide sand paper. Thanks for sharing your skills

Nicely demonstrated on the trilock mate. Damn wafers in that other one lol
With the challenge lock I sent Dark Art's, that one key pin with the serration was the only pin in the lock that had it. I jumbled the pins around to make the bitting better than it was and cut a key to suit the bitting. Could only use the pins because they are ever so slightly narrower than standard Lockwood or LAB pins.
Have a good one mate and all the best for the new year's. Cheers👍😎🍺

Amazing that people sacrifice security for convenience, As far as masterkeying goes.. I suppose if more people knew they wouldn't do it. I'd much rather have a whole bunch of keys and decent security rather than the masterkey system and much less security. I still have to take some time and grind a safe edge on one of my square files.. Thanks for reminding me, lol Anyway, great video buddy. We'll talk soon !

Another interesting part of mastering is the appearance of ghost keys. As an aside, have you pulled a Vinco apart? Mushrooms, apparently.

What would you recommend as an alternative to the Gainsborough? I've got one, and now it's not filling me with confidence 🧐

Great video mate, it’s amazing the difference that master wafers make to picking, that lock almost opened its self lol, cheers for the other tip with the square file, 👍
Have a fantastic new year & I hope you have the best 2019.
